Kubby31
Thank you Coach for your assistance in regards to the other thread... You can imagine how shocked I was first off when I was hearing reports being broadcast of Pats passing...then finding out the media got it wrong...AGAIN. I do realize that Pats days are numbered...but this was uncalled for today,IMO....imagine what his friends'family must be dealing with & all........very sad. Here's the latest update....lets hope it bears thruth... In contrast to several erroneous reports earlier in the day, former NHL head coach Pat Burns is alive, Burns phoned TSN on Friday. "Here we go again," said the three-time NHL coach of the year. "They're trying to kill me before I'm dead. I come to Quebec to spend some time with my family and they say I'm dead. I'm not dead, far (expletive) from it. They've had me dead since June. Tell them I'm alive. Set them straight." A report on Thursday suggested that Burns' condition had taken a turn for the worse. The 58-year old has returned home to Magog, Quebec to be with his family.
Innis_Mor
I am reminded of two, no make that three, things: One of my favourite lines from one of my favourite movies (Monty Python and the Holy Grail): "I'm not dead yet!" by a body thrown on to a cart by the collectors, out gathering the victims of the Black Plaque in the Middle Ages Always source your news. For example, all the "tabloids (e.g., Toronto Sun ) are reporting that people are fainting or running out of showings of the movie 127 Hours, but I was at one of the early showings and there was nothing of the sort. Real media had no reporting of any such "sightings". My son coming home from minor hockey practice as a nine (eight?) year-old, years ago: "Dad, coach says sometimes you just have to resort to a Pat Burns Breakout when in your own end."; Me "Huh? A Pat Burns Breakout?! Never heard of it. I didn't know he had one (chuckle)." My son, "Oh yeah. It's a "High, Hard One Off the Glass"" Best Wishes, Pat. Giv'em the old High Hard One! Back in Magog! Good for Pat! I love that area (Magog, Sutton, etc.).
Rondalsf
STANSTEAD, Que. -- Ex-NHL coach Pat Burns is making a dramatic public appearance today -- three weeks after his death was erroneously reported. Burns joked about the confusion as he sat down for a news conference in Stanstead, Que.: "I'm still alive," he said. Burns, who's been battling cancer, thought he had made his last public appearance in March when the project for a new Pat Burns Arena was announced. But he's back today for the groundbreaking ceremony. Numerous media outlets published erroneous reports last month about Burns' death -- and were forced to swiftly backtrack when they realized the error. There is a picture of him on rds.ca - WARNING though - it is very sad. I started crying myself.
