Habsters_mtl
Actually,,,i think he would love to come back to Montreal. As for wanting to,,,,,,,,,,he wouldnt have a choice if he were claimed on waivers. He either accepts his new destination or choses not to report and gets suspended with no money. I know he would not have a choice, but I don't think we would be on his radar to come back if he had the choice. It does not make any difference anyway because should he go on re-entry waivers he would be scooped up way before Gauthier would have the opportunity to do it. Guest
I know he would not have a choice, but I don't think we would be on his radar to come back if he had the choice. Souray had his most productive years as a Hab and despite his defensive shortcommings, he was (for the most part) well liked in Montreal. I don't understand why you believe he wouldnt want to come back here if given a choice?
CanadianMike
Rumor has it the Oilers are only interested in getting rid of Sheldon (full salary) on waivers (no plan on placing him on re entry waivers...1/2 his salry).

I can see why they would make a statement like that CM. If word got out that they intended to put him on re-entry then anybody considering him, might be willing to chance waiting for that to happen rather then commit to that huge Cap hit. I have doubts they would indeed do that, but if they were truly desperate to get rid of him.........

Don't get me wrong I would love to see him back but I can't see it happening as for why he would prefer not to come back you're right I don't know but I seem to remember him wanting out of MTL because he wanted to play out west so he could be closer to his daughter... is that still the case? Now that you mention that,,,,i do recall that story circulating. Certainly he didnt want out of Montreal because he disliked the city,, but you could be correct that he has a preference for being out west. weedleaf
Gotto admit, Gainey and his team really Choose th Right Defenceman,, Think back it was Markov or Sourray, alot of fans were upset to see Sourray leave.. Markov has become one of the top defenders in the league, Sourray has been placed on waivers... Only thing done wrong was not trading him at the deadline that season, Picks or players, that could be part of our team now, His value was super high Even better! He is going to be a steal at $2.7M. Can someone tell me how the waiver priority system works for teams? or is it whoever claims first? No thank you... 2.7 is too much for him. He is injured 75% of the games, and when he is playing he just isnt the same..

Felt slighted.

NorthShore
He cleared waivers today as expected. I think the only person who wouldn't be surprised is Souray, himself. To think he actually thought he'd be popular enough to choose which team he'd go to.
Manatee-X
For those wondering about re-entry waivers, I don't see the Oil wanting to pay half his salary. If they're that desperate to get rid of him they could just stick him in the minors now that he's through waivers. It's a pretty bad PR move to do that to a guy that you signed as a UFA, but after his comments to the media earlier in the year they could probably get away with it. Sending him to the minors just wouldn't be an option for a team like Edmonton. Paying him full salary in the minors is a lot worse than paying half his salary to play elsewhere in the NHL. Edmonton isn't a rich team that can afford to pay a guy 5 million to play in the AHL.
Guest
Souray not getting claimed kind of devalues what BB is hoping to get for Kaberle IMO. Heres a guy you could of gotten for no prospects or picks as opposed to another guy whos team and fans, are hoping to cash in big.

When he's been heatlhy, he's been awesome, but the injury problems outweighed his worth over the past three years. True.

Guest
Kaberle is a million times better than Souray. Wont dispute that he's better. My point was,,, if your a team shopping for a Dman,,, do you still give up that top 3 forward and or a #1 pick for Kabs when you could have picked up Souray for nothing but a cap hit?
