S-Bah
And he scored at a similar pace in the post-season (9 goals in 19 games), however even with that I think 28-33 goals is more in the range of what we'll see or could even expect from Gionta if he stays healthy. He's only ever broken 30 goals once in his career, a complete aberration of a season back in 05/06 after the lockout. This is the season Gomez, Gionta and Pouliot all put it together and rock the NHL with their best seasons to date.

That's true but he followed it up with 25 goals in 62 games which is a better than 30 goal pace. So 3 of the 5 post lockout years he's scored at a better then 30 goal pace. Those last 2 years in Jersey his offensive role seems to have diminished, may have had something to do with Parise's emergence.

Rocket-1
40 goals No way. ...but he is such a treat to watch and like you said he plays BIG for such a small man/player. So excited to watch him play...such a smart player too (eyes all over the ice). He scored 28 last year playing 55 games (yeah they say 61 but theres a few games that he played very few minutes due to injuries) Gionta can score 40 easily my friend him and Gomez aka G Love have a hell of a chemistry when they have their game on. I'm cool with Gi Gi. min 36 goals for him this season.

Bear-Cove-Hab
think 40 goals might be a stretch ( tho not impossible) but he's a solid lock for 30 I'd say. Can't underestimate the valve in his own end of the ice though. a two-way forward that can pot 30 + goals is nothing to sneeze at.
ColRouleBleu
Life of Brian Wednesday, 15.09.2010 / 12:01 AM / News canadiens.com MONTREAL – One of fastest skaters in the league, Brian Gionta didn’t earn himself that designation by taking it easy in the offseason. The speedy winger may have spent the majority of his summer punishing himself in the gym, but he still managed to make some quality time for the things that matter most. “I spent my summer back home in Rochester this year with my family,” described the 31-year-old father of two. “The weather was beautiful this year and our place is right on the water so we just did a lot of boating and relaxing on the lake. “Once school was out, we brought the kids to Disneyworld and all the cousins and extended family came down too so it was like a little Gionta family reunion,” laughed Gionta, who made the trek to Orlando with his five-year-old son, Adam, and two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Leah. “We brought them to see Toy Story 3 just before we went so they were really into those cars from the movie more than anything.” After returning from his week hanging with Mickey & Co. down south, the 5-foot-7 sniper’s vacation was officially over. “We always have a good group of guys to work out with in the summer. I trained with Ryan Callahan and Scott Nichol plus some AHL guys – we did dry land and skated together all summer,” explained Gionta, who will look to build on his team-high 28 goals this year. “It’s always better to do it as a group instead of by yourself and you can motivate each other.” While the rest of his workout buddies stayed back in New York to close out the summer, the Gionta clan had to pack up in late August to take care of some business here in their second home. “We actually came back a few weeks earlier than usual this year because Adam was starting school,” offered Gionta, who has since been skating with his Habs teammates at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard. “He was already in school last year but it was pre-kindergarten so he was only doing half-days; he’s moved up to full days now. It’s definitely weird not seeing him as much during the week, especially now before the season gets under way.” With his eldest son already settling in to his new routine, the empty-nester is looking forward to doing the same – starting with the team’s training camp next week. “I can’t wait for things to get going here and for the season to start – I feel great and I’m ready to go.”
sharpshooter14
Some one sent Radio station 990 an email today claiming that they drove by the Bell center and low and behold a huge banner was displayed with Gionta and Markov in the background sporting "A"s on their jerseys and Josh Georges in the forefront with his arm concealing his left chest. Looks like Josh might be the man. Has anyone else seen this banner??

S-Bah
Gionta was arguably the most solid, consistent player over the course of last year. He seemed to single-handedly spark Gomez and if the two of them are healthy, I think Gio will easily score 30 and could challenge for 40 goals. I am not an overly huge fan of Gomez's back-checking but he is a very good set-up man and Gionta benefited from that last year, as he di when they were in New Jersey. For Gio to get back to 48-50 goals though he's going to need the third member of that line to contribute more consistently than Pouliot did last year and he's going to need the other scoring line of AK46-Pleks-Cammy to be healthy and productive as well so the other team can't check one line exclusively. I don't think it's impossible for Gionta to get to 40 goals by any means though if things fall into place. That's scoring big for some for Gionta it's huge because if he's short of forty or fifty he will play for the team regardless.
