Moen in my opinion was much better on the Gomez line than Pouliot, the playoffs were definitely good for Moen because of the offensive support of Gomez and Gionta, hopefully he plays on that line for part of the season

It's possible that he will get some looks and spot-duty on a higher line with Gomez, but with regards to his playoff performance, he's just one of those players that are better "built" for the playoffs. When checking tightens up and defenses change, you sometimes just need those bigger bodies that can skate hard and help break things up, and that's pretty much exactly what Travis brought to that line.

As Travis does not have an NTC, I see the possibility that he could be potentially part of a trade... going forward, we'll have to wait and see what value he can provide either way. I personally did expect more than what I saw last yer.

Disappointed with his season last year. I guess I was expecting he Travis Moen I saw win the cup with the ducks. Don't know he didn't have THAT fire that he had (the fire that Lapierre had in the playoffs).

we want more from you Travis...go go go!!

i agree he could play top six and on a sorta off note i think lappy should alternate from centering 3rd to winging second if he plays with the intensity that he did in the playoffs and on a complete off note who made your sig?

Moen was careless when he made that shove from behind that started the ruckus and if a guy's arms are tied up, I completely agree that you shouldn't take cheap shots at an opponent. HOWEVER, I think it is 100% bogus hypocrisy for the Panthers to be whining about Moen when there were three other events last night:

- Lapierre shove dangerously into the boards while off-balance after a break-away. Reminiscent of when he did that last year and was suspended 4 games.

- Duco sucker-punching White while he was ON THE ICE after a fight

- Ellerby sucker-punching Dumont while he was ON THE ICE and clearly not fighting any more as he was turtling. Dumont gives up a good 7-8 inches to Ellerby and wasn't fighting back, so if you ask me, this was the cheapest of all the cheap shots last night.

So the Panthers can complain all they want about Moen, and they are in theory right, but there were much worse offenders last night. It really sickens me to see guys come out and talk like they are all good and virtuous, when they are just as bad offenders. This is why there continues to be dangerous play in the NHL, as players lack respect for their opponents and fail to see how they are just as guilty as the next guy until someone actually gets hurt by their actions.

I kind of hope he'll be traded. I like Travis, but I feel like he has become redundant in the sense we have cheaper, younger options who can do the same or a better job.

Otherwise maybe he spends some time in the pressbox, because at this point I would at least like to try a guy like White in his place.

At 1.5 million it would be preferable to get him off the cap... and I can't see him as a Darche type that will be good with the press box.

Exactly, not to mentione $1.5 is little much for a player to be in the pressbox night in, night out. Anyway, it's probably pre-mature, but if he is moved I hope he isn't waived or demoted. I hate to see that happen to good character vets.

He's about what I expected, he's a smart player. He knows when to "bring energy" but he also knows it's a long season and you can't do it all 82 games (like Begin tried to do) he paces himself well and he's a relatively smart defensive player, PKer and has a tiny bit of scoring ability (or goes to the right places).

I think he has value, obviously signing bottom 6 guys to 3 year deals is less than ideal but I think he belongs on the team.

Travis should be one of the players concerned about Ryan White's performance IMO.

Tradeable? Waivers? Demotion? Or is he a lock to keep his spot?

was going to post the same thing this morning but got busy at work and had to log off.

Maybe he will just find himself in the pressbox more often then he'd like (when we won't be playing "tough-rough" teams).

I agree. And I do like what some of the younger guys have been bringing to the table this preseason, but Moen will be here when the season gets underway, and I expect him to be here when the post-season rolls around. I don't expect that his spot will be lost to a younger guy.

I loved the way Moen skated over and flipped Malkin's lid for him, after he was trying to goad Gionta like he did in the playoffs. Warms my heart to see the camaraderie on our team, that is something that can't be taught it's earned through hard games like the Playoff run this spring. Go Habs Go!

Moens is such a soldier never stops battling

I like it when he's mad and sabres are rattling

This guy really plays so hard

Hates to be in our own yard

Always taking the puck as far as he can

Trying to get the puck in the pan

I like the ways he's always cool

lets others make themselves a fool

Doesn't matter where he plays

Out in front he always stays

I like it when he play with the kids

Keeps them straight stops the skids

Yes I really have to say

Travis Moen can really play

GO SOLDIER GO :D :D

Meet your new top 6 forward (as per rds) Practice lines today.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat...... <_<

I thought both Puliot and (especially) Kostitsyn were two of the few bright spots in an otherwise frustrating game. I guess maybe he's looking at this as a way to get Gomez and Gionta going, but I feel as though we've tried this Moen experiment before with less than amazing results.
