Ryan O'byrne

Three words for O'Byrne tonight: welcome back Hamrlik

I think that the return of hammer really helped OB calm down and play with more confidence. other than his penalty and a few hits, he was invisible tonight and that's what i want from him.

Definitely. I don't think it's coincidence that Ryan's best game of the season thus far came with Hamrlik back in the lineup as his D partner.

I think it was the addition of Hamrlik as well as Martin deciding to sit Picard over him which gave him that extra confidence.

What is it with OByrne that he can't seem to get a fair shake with the Habs

I look at

Gill 35 yrs

Spacek 36 Yrs

Hamerlik 36 yrs

I would figurre the Habs would want to try and get a young guy in there at some point in time so that when one of the above three is gone there is a gradual progression

Well, so much for yesterdays game as he'll likely be a healthy scratch tomorrow night. According to Pat Hickey, Ryan was paired with Markov at practice this morning.

Yep, saw that.

Another brilliant move by JM.

Ryan. Walk in to JM's office and demand that you be traded to Tampa Bay. At least they have a coach there who knows how to develop young players and actually has a desire to.........WIN.

I am developing deep visceral disgust for Jacques Martin and how he has perfected the art of destroying YOUNG players with immense potential.

And with regard to Henry, that is a shame that he is not allowed to play. Hands down he is better than Gill and Hamrlik. He may not be the leading scorer on the D corp, but he will play tough and will not back down from anyone who takes liberties with his teammates.

well he keeps getting delay of game penalties when he;s not being pressured <_<

i thought the same thing except that it wont be a very long rotation considering that there are only 2 games until markie's penciled date return

True. He may want another look at Picard before deciding if he's going to move when Markov comes back. I don't think he'll want to keep 2 defensemen in the pressbox. (Although we have room if we go with a 23 man roster).

JM has no patience OBie didn't play bad but he just needs to stop lifting the puck so high the other guys are getting past their prime and OBie is a good team mate let him play some more to get his confidence up and relax and enjoy the game he has it in him to be a good player

GO OBIE GO :D :D

How bout send him and Spacek somewhere for a decent d-man :D

I do like OB but lately he hasn't been impressing me -.-

I would keep O'B ahead of Spacek at this point. Picard seems to be playing decent steady hockey, as far as I can tell. O'B, with his right-handed shot, and minimal salary are valuable. Spacek has been terrible so far this season. :( Someone's going to have to go somewhere upon Markov's return. Who's it gonna be?

With JM it is not likely he will favor O'Byrne... unfortunately even over the Spaceman at this stage.

He just doesn't fit into the lineup at the moment. It's really too bad but since Hamrlik is back full tilt the pairings seem to be working. Subban and Picard don't have the tough assignments like before and they have been able to do their thing.

I know everyone is down on Spacek but right now he and Hamrlik are getting the top lines. Gorges and Gill get the top lines too. I don't know if O'Byrne could be next to Hamrlik and do well against top lines. That's about the only place for him.

And with Markov coming back who knows what the pairings will be aside from "joined at the hip Gorges and Gill". Maybe one of Spacek or Hamrlik will get traded once Markov gets back. Most fans really ragging on those two but here we are again without Markov and a winning record.

O'Byrne seemed like he really found a groove at the beginning of last season and then the poor kid injured his knee. Since then it's been a tough ride.

Will we ever get to see Ryan on the back-end as a Hab? Maybe he could play 4th line right-wing... he needs to play somewhere

Come to think of it when Markov is back having 4 pairs of d-men may not be a bad idea either... the 4th pair could play 4th line with a center between the two ;)

No more Carboaching please. :P

Picard is playing a similar game to Ryan but with more offensive. With Markov returning, it's hard to imagine how Ryan will make it back in the line-up. Maybe a trade is forthcomming.

Ah common' Carbs only ever tried one d-man on the 4th line at a time... this is different.

The idea is to play predominantly 3 lines in any case... 5 minutes a night and having an extra defensive pairing would be innovative use of the line-up. It would add size and potentially some toughness.

Hmmm... well Dandenault was originally a forward that was converted to defense by Bowman... so does that really count? :P

Yes it does :P but speaking of forwards converted to D, if you really want to go innovative, put Markov at centre between the 2 other D you chose to play forward. If you can't get team D with that ... well...
