#76 Pk Subban 2010-11

The NBA may have pulled $1B more in revenue but overpaid players ate much of it. The average payroll is actually over that cap.

By the time Subban becomes an UFA, Hammer, Gill and Spacek will no longer be Habs; Markov may not have a $5.75M cap hit anymore and I don't know for Gorges or O'Byrne. Subban will be the one with the big cap hit rather than Hammer or Markov.

He would have to score 50 points or more. I do not expect either of Hall or Seguin to score more than 60, perhaps 70 points this season.

For Seguin, it's unlikely given that he's sitting behind guys like Bergeron and Savard on the depth chart right now. He'd have to hope for a trade or injury to win some more minutes, especially PP time. Hall on the other hand will likely have all kinds of quality ice time playing on a weak Edmonton team, and while his team may not be successful, he will likely have a shot at a good year. I think 60-70 points is a good estimate, but it's possible he could out-do even that.

As for Subban, he could very well have a good year that puts him in the running for rookie-of-the-year. But it's also possible he struggles in his first full year. I think he'll be okay if he just concentrates on his game, puts pucks on net on the PP and plays a sound defensive game. My guess for PK is that he'll end up somewhere between 30-40 points.

One thing's for sure: if he plays for the Habs next season, Don Cherry will be going nuts for him. He loved pointing out that the guy was from the GTHL during the playoffs. Maybe Cherry just needed something to connect with. But he was still a big fan.

Is the fact that this month's calendar features Subban a sign of something? (Like Subban is leading us into the future? August is the month before preason starts.) They're probably just getting us excited and I'm reading too much into this.

Or he could be in the AHL/ on another team / Working @ Walmart.

I could see him being benched a whole lot..

Not out coaches kind of player, you know hes going to have HUGE mistakes like all Rookie Defenseman just he takes HUGE HUGE risks that regulare D wouldnt take, so they will be even more obvious

I don't know. MAB wasn't the coach's kind of player either, and how many times was he benched for his mistakes? :P

No doubt that PK will make mistakes, but let's not forget that he was one of the top +/- players in the AHL last year, as well as the OHL before that. He has the speed to correct a lot of his mistakes, and he's better defensively than a lot of people give him credit for.

He will also have one of the best 2-way defensemen in the league teaching him this year. ;)

Markov? Hamrlik?

One day he will be the D-man to which other Habs D-men will be compared.

Lol. Getting a little ahead of ourselves arent we considering he has played what, 20 games at the nhl level?

I know that was written a long time ago but ill reply to you anyway.

Let's see PK played 16 games in the NHL 2 in the regular season and 14 in the playoffs for 10 pts total, 1 goal 9 assists +3 in 16 games played.

Not too shabby for a 21 year old.

Let's try the other approach with this kid, let's get excited one time like back in the days.

We have a star coming in our club, why not!
