beaubie
As a Habs fan, I don't like what Tampa is doing this offseason. Yup! Thanks for your time here Moore. Even though I hoped for it to have been longer. Edit: Although, I'm really curious to know the amount. I think most are, considering his past. SyrianHabsFan
so lets recap shall we... They took our AHL coach and GM They signed one of the reasons we made it this far in the postseason for peanuts why we give up a 2nd round pick They trade for Simon Gagné They signed Kubina They have a Steven Stamkos that is on fire They have Vinny, Malone, Downey and Marty They signed Ellis, the goalie we traded SK for They have a lot of good, up and coming defensemen. Victor Hedman leading them The only good player they lost is Andrej Mezaros Steve Yzerman is already one of the best GM and he's been at that position for a couple of months... While all this is happening, Gauthier: He keeps hamrlik and his 5.5 He takes 3 years to sign our future goaltender He trades the guy who got us to the ECF without even talking to him first He lets our future coach go He signs ALEX AULD...out of all the goalies available (Theo, Turco, Lalime) He doesnt even TRY to clear cap space how can we not be frustrated

Each GM is in a unique situation. Trading for Gagne and his one-year contract, for example, would probably not have been a great move for the Habs who are trying to save cap space this year. Signing Moore would have prevented some of our prospects from getting a shot, something that might not be such a problem in TB.
beaubie
1 million first season, 1.2 mil the second Yzerman is a genius damn. How is it that we could not have somehow worked this out? I'm not saying keeping him would have ended our worries but it seems reasonable.

Go ask Brian Burke Sure there's ways to make room under the Cap, but the goal is to get better and not moving sideways or pulling the trigger on a trade just for kicks. Trading AK now won't fetch much and you'll likely have to take on salary in return. Buying out Hamrlik was never an option, he's still a top 3-4 guy and you'd need to sign a replacement which won't come cheap on the UFA market. Mathradio
Don't forget: the snowbirds are among the ones who fill the arena when Tampa plays northeast teams. Leafs, Habs or Sens. Maybe Bruins or Sabres but that's a longer shot than even Habs.
Kid-Canada_mtl
So their lineup is something like: Malone-Stamkos-St Louis Gagne-Lecavalier-Downie Purcell-Moore-Tyrell Thompson-Pouliot-Durno Jones Hedman-Ohlund Kubina-Clark Lashoff-Lundin Smaby Smith Ellis With 13-14 million cap space left to fill in some more holes, Id predict they will be in the playoffs if they can get 1 more top-4 D and a couple of good 3rd line grinder forwards. Funny but Metropolit might be a good option to center their fourth line and will likely come in around 1 mil. Downie is a pretty good agitator for a 3rd line role as well and Tampa could try and pick up a 2nd line RW on the cheap like an Owen Nolan or Lee Stempniak for one year.
