I'm really Excited, but one thing I'm a little disappointed in are the Habs Jerseys. I know there isn't much they can do. Calgary's looks awesome. I was thinking they could use one of the centennial jerseys

this habs jersey is the classic one that lasted so long

They change sides at mid point in the 3rd period too

I get your point, because I was going to bring it up myself, but what about when the sun starts setting? One goalie for the 1st half of the 3rd will have the sunset, while the other has darkness after they switch sides.

Those factors have very little effect on the game, the games are usually played in the early afternoon and the sun is above your head at those times and the teams get equal amount at both ends. The wind has little effect, the puck is so heavy it is hard for the wind to have any effect on it. I doubt the wind is even fast enough to push players on the ice. Either way all these factors are equal between both teams because they each play 30 min on each side. One or two games a year played outdoors I don't think is a big deal.

I strongly disagree... They're not starting at 10am and finishing around noon, this is the winter where the the sun set at around 5pm. And wind, ok, might not affect the puck much, but have you ever tried to bike into the wind?

You pedal and pedal but get nowhere... The wind, special winter winds are a killer, specially on the prairies. You have a forward with the wind at his back propelling him and you're skating backwards trying to keep up with him. Then if you're a goalie with the wind in your face, your eye's are constantly tearing.

I can't see how you can say that playing outdoors with all the elements doesn't have an effect. And even though they play 30 minutes on each side, doesn't mean that the wind won't change or that the elements stay exactly the same. Just listen to the players (like sid) talk after the games... They all mention how different it is, having to deal with wind, natural light, shadows, un-even ice surface, etc...

Aw, poor babies. If they can play in Madison Square Gardens they can play anywhere. :)

Unless MSG has wind gusts in the arena and an ever changing light source, there;s a huge difference between indoor and outdoor games.

Speaking of which, the Verizon Arena has poor ice, almost as if it was an outdoor game. What other arenas has uneven ice?

Anything in the south (hot climates) as a rule has bad ice. Edmonton is said to have one of the best ice surface's in the NHL... Many believe it has to do with their colder climate.

The only thing that these poor players can get used to in normal games is the uneven ice. Habs and Leafs surfaces actually have some of the better ices in the NHL, although, come playoff time, either place can rapidly become ugly.

Oh and do MSG really have roof problems that could cause them to have both wind and sunlight enter the arena?

Am I the only one on here not looking forward to this outdoor game? Between the terrible ice and the cold weather the quality of the game will be awful because the players will hold back of what they can actually do.

Honestly,I have not really noticed this in the other previously outdoor games...I personally enjoy the games & find them entertaining.

They also all mention that they feel fortunate to be of the few who have the chance to experience it :)

Will this outdoor game compress the players playing?

LMAO!!!!!
