S-Bah
The Penguins in 6th, seriously? I found this very hard to take seriously, all Jokers aside. Whoever wrote the article probably has a secretary that follows hockey and he asked her who the biggest hockey fans were, that would explain them knowing the name of a Canadian city. ColRouleBleu
This was the most important paragraph of the article and the bolded part in particular makes me chuckle: Not taken into consideration, however, were intangibles like the level of passion with which fans cheer on their team during games, or the level of appreciation for smaller details like chasing down an icing or clearing the zone on the P.K. And while attendance on the road was measured, the number of “Ole, ole, ole, ole” chants raining down on opposing netminders in their own building definitely wasn’t. maddienmike
I have never seen such rubbish in my life, this wasn't just north America but the world they had a few European football clubs,in the list but North America is so insulated they really cannot see for the most part what the rest of the world is like, they had no Scottish clubs there man they are crazy or Welsh rugby fans, rugby is more than a religion in Wales Do you know there was actually a war in South America because of football,it was a long time ago and it was between 2 tiny little countries lasted 2 days but shots were fired over a football match, the Carribean is just as crazy about cricket. This list was based purely on how much money fans spent, which has nothing to do with how the fans love their team or how fanaticle they are, there are parts of the world where people have no money but the fans love their team whatever their sport, so why don't they say the list is based on how much the fans spend because it has nothing to do with real life, There I have had my spout for the next ten years GO HABS GO :D I have never seen such rubbish in my life, this wasn't just north America but the world they had a few European football clubs,in the list but North America is so insulated they really cannot see for the most part what the rest of the world is like, they had no Scottish clubs there man they are crazy or Welsh rugby fans, rugby is more than a religion in Wales Do you know there was actually a war in South America because of football,it was a long time ago and it was between 2 tiny little countries lasted 2 days but shots were fired over a football match, the Carribean is just as crazy about cricket. Mathradio
Never trust Forbes to list the best sports fans in North America, much less to rank hockey teams. ESPN is borderline but is traditionally biased against hockey. Versus would be more trustworthy if it was strictly about comparing hockey teams. At least Habs are first among Canadian hockey teams, which is probably the only "acceptable" thing about this Forbes ranking.

A list based on opinion would be way too subjective. The criteria is much more than money spent, it involves a few factors. Like I said, not overly scientific or anything but it's there. Also it's pretty clear that it's just the major 4 North American leagues. In the cover article they meant European football passion but are pretty clear that it's just the MLB, NHL, NFL and NBA. I didn't double check through the whole list but I don't see why they'd mislead.
