Best Goalie Masks?

Recommended Posts

Since we had to stay aside as we watched the Battle between the Pipes unfold, maybe we have come to appreciate the artwork on goalie masks better.

What goalie masks seems to be the best? Maybe some of you would say Price's mask is among the best in the NHL while I, myself, I prefer the goalie mask Toskala wore when he still was a Leaf.

I always liked Yann Danis' mask while he was with our organization. The one with St. Joseph's Oratory on one side and the Montreal skyline on the other, and the flags of Quebec and Canada on the back.

I also like the Brian Elliot mask, the one with Casey Jones from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

There is only one mask I want to see

Whoever the HABS goalie might be

When he is in his goal stopping every shot

When you can see his hands are really hot

I know that some of the others masks are fine

But I only see them when the puck crosses that line

So this season I should see a few more

When our HABS shoot and score

But I must say I like most of the mask

But i think it was a good idea to ask

GO HABS GO :D :D

Here's my faves - the original masks, Clint Benedict of the Montreal Maroons of the 1920s, and Jacques Plante in the 1959-60 season.

Pictured at top is Bennedict's crude leather creation.
