Detroit receives Baltimore defensive lineman Haloti Ngata and a seventh round draft pick from the Raven for a fourth and fifth round selection. NFL.com views Ngata as a solid Plan B in light of the fact Ndamukong Suh has all but officially signed with Miami. Assuming Ngata makes the team, the Lions will use a 3-4 defensive alignment.

Detroit defensive tackle Nick Fairly has signed a one year $5 million contract with St. Louis. Fairly is a disruptive pass when in shape and motivated, but has been inconsistent being prone to ill-timed penalties and off field issues. Fairly was one of seven players arrested in 2012 and one three arrested twice.

Baltimore has released running back Bernard Peirce has been released following a DUI arrest. Pierce was pulled over at 2:00 A.M. for speeding in Towson, Maryland. Pierce proved to be a prophet since according to the police report, he predicted the Ravens would release him - another item that should be on the "Good Laugh" thread. It didn't help Pierce gained 366 rushing yards in 93 carries, a 3.9 yard average with only two touchdowns. He may be finished in the NFL with other teams backing off.

Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Famer Chuck Bednarik has died at 89. Bednarik was the last of the ironman players in the NFL playing center and linebacker in 14 seasons, all with the Eagles and led them to their only NFL in 1960. He is best remembered for a bonecrunching tackle that nearly ended the career of Frank Gifford.

Cleveland general manager Ray Farmer will be suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season for texting in violation of the league's electronic device policy. During the suspension, Farmer cannot be involved in club matters, be at the Cleveland offices, the practice facility, or at games. The team was fined $250,000.
