keep in mind people, our powerplay last year was pretty much crap until midseason. thats when it exploded and we quickly became the best pp in the league. meanwhile we're still 1st place in the east so IF there was ever a good time to be struggling on the pp, it's now.

So do we go out and offer failastic Bergeron his job back? He was what made our powerplay less embarrassing. In contrast our defense overall was more embarrassing.

Not terribly impressed by the refereeing tonight (missed high stick on Gorges, missed knee-check by Subban, missed hit from behind into the boards on Gionta, couple of weak calls after letting a bunch of stuff go in the third), but they weren't the reason we lost. The Habs just did a poor job executing in a number of ways.

- the Pleks line looked dangerous again, and the Halpern line did well but the Eller and Gomez lines were non-factors and Gionta even missed a couple of open nets. Cammalleri was way off on most of his shots and he continues to throw the breaks on as he goes into the corners.

- the D was brutal. Markov looked a little rusty at times, and made a couple of bad pinches, just like he did after returning last season. Gill was brutal tonight and Spacek once again showed that he does not belong in the NHL. He was even with Booth, lost him, and then had to haul him down for the penalty shot, that essentially cost us the game. Hamrlik was average, and once again we relied on Subban and Gorges to hold the fort.

- The other big factor is our lack of a PP. Markov or no Markov, you can't go 0 for 5 against the Panthers and you can't fail to take advantage of a 5 on 3 for almost the full two minutes. Losing MAB should not explain a complete lack of a PP this year. There's little traffic in front of the net and this second D man playing a little higher is cutting down the passing lanes we do have available. If it's Muller whose responsible then he needs to get it together in the next 5 games or else the Habs need to find another coach who can organize an effective PP. So far as I can tell, Muller is responsible for the PP and for face-offs, and we haven't been good at either this year. Yes, this is one loss, but this was a game we should have won easily, and it means we now have to work to steal a game against a Boston or Washington to get those cheap points back.

now is the time to work out ALL the bugs on the team

If the 2nd line doesn't start producing soon we will have a long season. <_<

Gionta is really starting to frustrate me. He takes horrible shots, he takes more bad shots and he can't seem to bury an open net. He had two chances that should have been iced tonight in a row and failed at both. We have at least 4 players on this team who are getting paid several million dollars more than they should be getting. I cringe at the thought of who we could get for the combined salaries of Gomez, Gionta, Spacek and Hamrlik. Especially if we brought up some of our good prospects like Ryan White and Matt Carle. This team could be so much better if it were managed properly.

It's not so much the loss. I could care less that we lost, we've won 4 in a row. It's the way that we loss that bothers me so much. There was no effort outside the net. All off season all we hear is how Price never gave the team a chance to win. Tonight he makes the saves he needs to make and this team can't hit the broad side of a barn. Disappointed. What's the excuse? They're gassed from a back-to-back 10 games into the season?? Bunch of bull.

Then we have Boston getting a shutout win 4-0 *facepalm*. Thank God it was against Ottawa and thank goodness the Leafs got shutout and Buffalo is down 2-0 right now.

Well, aside from the score, I didn't think the team played poorly. Spacek ahd a rough night, and the PP showed some signs of life occasionally, but plain and simple bad luck and good goalie tonight. Look at Gio's chance wheer he hit the d-man's skate. Look at the shot margin. FLA had a night off, we had a hard fought game against the Islanders last night. FLA has had no luck on their road trip, and were playing a real strong defensive game to try and get anything from this trip. I'm not too worried all in all. Our team skates well, and moves the puck well. Just tried to be too fancy and put on a show for the home fans. As far as the PP, as much as it pains me to say it, does anyone miss MA Bergeron?

I miss Metropolit and his 10PPG's more than MAB honestly lol.

This is why I wanted Marc Andre Bergeron to be resigned, he was amazing on the PP and to be fair, at the moment, Spacek is by far playing worse than Bergeron did defensively.

Also, Auld would have won tonight

We scored one goal, Auld wasn't getting a shutout.

30 of those shots were probably from the outside lol

Yep, the stats flatter Vokoun. We fell into our usual pattern of frantically firing low-percentage shots at the goalie from poor angles or far out. We never had a single scoring chance of the caliber we routinely allowed Florida, particularly on their three goals.

Wow just realized we really fired 41shots at Vokoun. Should go back to the old times - shoot way less score way more. :D

And I'd say 5 of those shots had a legitimate chance of going in the net.

You can't win 'em all.

I still can't believe the Habs are consistently outshooting their opponents.
