vegasrick
I like the system if it's what we've seen over the past 10 games. I just worry that poor secondary scoring, a tepid power play, and questionable defense might sabotage us in the long run. Coach JM just stated on CJAD that our "fourth" line of Pouliot, Darche and (was it Halpern?) just scored three goals in the last two games. That's pretty good "secondary" scoring if you ask me. vegasrick
humph. Well said. Plus, our defense AND our power play can only get better with Batman back in the lineup. And I forgot to mention that Pouliot had that great breakaway chance, and a penalty shot afterwards. It's too bad he missed it, but I'll bet he's devoting some practice time to shootouts now. That's pretty good "secondary" scoring if you ask me. There's no way you can reasonably expect your fourth line to maintain that scoring pace. When I refer to secondary scoring, I mean the second line (Gomez and Gionta, specifically). We're not going to be able to stay out of the 8th place race if those two don't pick it up in November. Well, this is absolutely true. Gomez and Gionta MUST get going. But I'm willing to bet that Pouliot's production elsewhere will keep him off that line and right where he is. So who's the winger that will complete the G-G line? Do we have him yet?

I still think Pouliot deserves a fair shot on that line: 10-12 games, no strings attached, no sudden benchings or demotions if he has a bad shift. If that doesn't work, Eller gets the same shot. If he's not ready, Pacioretty would be my third option. One of these three has to work. We just have to stop fooling ourselves and thinking grinders like Pyatt, Moen, or Darche can be any kind of reasonable solution to a line that is primarily supposed to SCORE. We have no one. Basically, we have one line that has produced 1/2 of the teams goals. Moen isn't cutting it, he's ok if you need a physical guy for a shift or 2, but he's a lower line grinder.
