Worst Bet You Have Lost

Noooooooo, I am not talking about losing money. What I am talking about is losing a bet to an opposing fan of another team, that you will NEVER forget it.

Here is what I'm talking about.

I worked for 31 years at a large assembly plant near here. Everyone that knew me, knew how much I Loved the Habs. :) .

There was a Leaf fan there (among many) who used to give me the gears whenever his team won and the Habs lost. One day the Laffs (insert BOO here) and Habs (insert YEA, here), were scheduled to play each other. Well,,,,a freindly bet would be in order,, right? Right.

The bet we decide on was this: the losing fan would wear the winners sweater for a day. Yes, I know,,,hindsight is 20/20. Everyone on the floor knew what the bet was. However, I was confident that the Habs would prevail. Wrong!!!! Well,,,,all that night I dreaded wearing THAT sweater the next day. Well, about 15 minutes after start-up, he came over with that blue and white thing. You could hear the laughing begin even before he got to me. He gave it to me and I held it up and swallowed my pride, all of the while listening to the laughing/snide remarks and anything else they could verbally hurl at me. After suffering through 3 1/2 to 4 hours of humiliation, he came over to retreive his sweater. Thankfully

I swore that would be the last time that I ever make a bet like that again.

That was the only time I have EVER had another teams sweater on.

Does anyone else out there have a "worst bet" that they would care to share?

The only betting situation I have ever been in was when 2 arrogant Wings fans bet me that the Wings would win the Stanley Cup AND that America would win the gold medal in 2010. I told them over and over again, because I hate taking advantage of dumb people like that, that it was a VERY bad idea. But with my pride on the line, I was cornered into taking the bet. I won $50. I didn't take the dumb bet, but the two opposing me did.

Some of you have seen my pics of my hockey themed recroom on another thread. Well in my recroom I have shadow boxes with autographed jerseys from The Rocket and Jean Beliveau. The friend who built the boxes is a Bruin fan. He made them for me on one condition. If the Bruins win the Cup before the Habs, I have to display a Bruin's jersey in one of those boxes for 1 year. I'm currently working on a loop hole...just in case

Lost 2 bets with Leaf fans

The first was I had to a full 25 yr Be a GM as Toronto

The second, if Montreal beat Boston, he would have his XBL Game pic as the CH until the Leafs next make the playoffs, if Boston won, I have to have the Leafs logo as my XBL picture until Toronto make the playoffs :S

A football related one was one I made with my best friend on the CL final day in 2008, Chelsea v Manchester United, we both made a £50 bet and the loser had to wear the opponents shirt for school the Monday after the final, my team lost (Chelsea) on penalties, so I had the humiliation of wearing a United shirt and loss of £50 :(

10 bucks on the bruins series <_<

Ah, the innocence of youth.

I'm kind of glad we didn't face the Flyers. I would've had to put on a Hartnell sweater in school, get in front of class, and say I love Chris Pronger.

I made the bet a day or two after Markov's first game back. Serious.

Literally what I was thinking: "Man, Markov's looking alright!"

Yeah.

OK, So I didn't get any help from the Flyers, Bolts or the 'Nucks to keep the Bruins from winning the Cup. Therefore I will man-up and honor my bet by putting up a Bruins jersey in my Habs Mancave for one year. Pics will be posted to prove I am a man of my word.

Well, its been almost 2 weeks since the Bruins won the Cup and I have not yet seen my friend with whom I made the bet. He called me the night they won and I told him that his year started then. So now I won't have to look at it for 52 weeks, we're down to 50 and counting with no sign of it yet. Its not my fault he hasn't come up with the jersey yet. (And I'm not calling him to remind him!)
