Forever_Habs10
2011 World Juniors Championships...Dec.26-Jan.5 Hockey Canada announced its selection camp roster on Monday for the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championship. There are three returning players from last year's silver medal-winning team, and the trio are all defencemen. Ryan Ellis, Calvin de Haan, and Jared Cowen were among the picks announced by Team Canada in Toronto. Ellis is the senior player in the group, and will be looking to make his third World Junior squad. The Nashville Predators prospect was sixth in team scoring last year with one goal and seven assists, and he has compiled two goals and 13 assists over two tournaments. de Haan and Cowen had one assist each in last year's event. Other notable defencemen invited to camp include high draft picks Erik Gudbranson (third overll, 2010, Florida) and Brandon Gormley (13th overall, 2010, Phoenix.) Gormley, however, suffered a knee injury on the weekend. He will be evaluated by team doctors in Phoenix, but it appears unlikely he will be available for the selection camp, or to play in the tournament. Noteworthy forwards on the list include high draft picks Ryan Johansen (fourth overall, 2010, Columbus), and Brett Connolly (sixth overall, 2010, Tampa Bay), as well as Montreal Canadiens prospect Louie Leblanc, and Buffalo Sabres blue chipper Zach Kassian. 2011 draft-eligible prospects Sean Couturier and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins are also on the list. Four goalies were invited to the selection camp including Calvin Pickard, the younger brother of goalie Chet Pickard who was on Team Canada's 2009 gold medal-winning squad. 2010 top draft picks Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin are both junior eligible but were not invited to the camp and are unlikely to be released by their NHL teams. TSN's Bob McKenzie said that Team Canada hopes Brayden Schenn, currently on the Los Angeles Kings roster, will be made available for the tournament. Also among those who weren't invited are Scott Glennie, a first-round pick of Dallas (eighth overall, 2009), Brenden Ranford, a Flyer draft pick who is second in scoring in the WHL, and Christian Thomas, who is 16th in league scoring in the OHL. In total, 18 first-round draft picks were named to the selection camp roster. The selection camp takes place from December 12-15 at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto. Canada will be looking to win its sixth gold medal in seven years, with the tournament set to begin in Buffalo on Boxing Day. You can see all of Canada's games on TSN, including the opener against Russia on Dec. 26 at 4pm et/1pm pt. Canada won silver last year in Saskatoon after an overtime loss to the U.S. in the gold-medal game.

beaubie
Can't wait this is always an exciting tournament. GO CANADA GO sadly no more Eberle magic though Same here. Really looking forward to it and hoping that our three guys can make it and then play some good hockey. Also hope the two guys from Mississauga (OHL) make it. I went to see them play and it'd be cool to see them at this level. I was actually planning to attend one of the games. Had the whole thing planned out but then not only would I not be able to go alone since my dad wouldn't have been able to make it but I realised none of the days would have been ideal to plan this during break. Sigh. Anyway, it should be good. Lets hope we can reclaim the top honour.

Forever_Habs10
Hockey Canada Officially Adds Schenn To Junior Camp Roster Hockey Canada has officially added Brayden Schenn to its world junior team selection-camp roster. The move was expected after Schenn was returned to his junior team, the Brandon Wheat Kings, by the Los Angeles Kings. The 19-year-old had two assists in eight games for the Kings this season, but last played on Oct. 30. Scheen played for Canada at the world junior hockey championship last year when the team won silver, recording two goals and six assists. Schenn will be the fourth player in camp that has world junior experience, joining Ryan Ellis, Calvin de Haan, and Jared Cowen. S-Bah
lol i hope they broadcast all the US games on nhl center ice ): Probably ESPN or TSN2 I know usually they show at least three on regular cable stations.I try to watch the US team as Danny Kristo was on their team and the Habs pick a lot of American draftees. The US team is going against a stacked Team Canada again and this team is big as in size and talent.I make sure my schedule is clear for the WJHC every Christmas, and this year it will be even better. With Louis Leblanc playing with Sean Couturier and Quinton Howden I'll be glued to the Team Canada games, can't wait.
