Larry-Launstein-Jr
I just happened to catch Antiques Roadshow last night on my local PBS station, and wouldn't you know it, the bell that was used in the fight between Jack Dempsey and Billy Gibbons for their world championship fight was featured? The people who had the bell had it on display in their bar for over 60 years. Dempsey retained his world heavyweight title but Gibbons went the distance in that fight. Gibbons is the father of Bob "Killer" Dill, who as we all know, was knocked out by Rocket Richard. What people don't know about this story is that both Richard and Dill became good friends afterward, a friendship that lasted the rest of their lives. Richard talked about this in his own autobiography in the book "Flying Frenchmen: Hockey's Greatest Dynasty" - co-written with Stan Fischler.
