HabSteve
Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced Wednesday that the team acquired defenseman James Wisniewski from the New York Islanders, in return for a compensatory second round pick in 2011, and a conditional fifth round pick in 2012. Wisniewski is scheduled to join the team on Wednesday in Tampa Bay. Wisniewsky has currently 21 points in 32 games with the isles http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=547577

Does anyone know when his contract is up, this could be a lil expensive for a guy who won't stick around? At least we're not giving up a 1st rounder. Mathradio
Was he worth the 50th overall pick?
jennifer_rocket
Was he worth the 50th overall pick? I guess we're going to find out in the next two or three months. One positive. I seem to remember him being pretty gritty, he's right-handed (something we've been lacking), and he scores on the powerplay. Hopefully he's not terrible defensively, but I have no idea. AK-1
Only Kostitsyn, Plekanec, Cammalleri on the Habs have more points than James Wisniewski. A 2nd and a 5th is a good price to pay for a 40+ game rental.
Mathradio
Let's hope Wisniewski prefers Montreal to the NY Islanders. If not, there's still Kabs we can attempt to land in the off-season.
roy_133
Fair price to pay, surprised he was acquired for a fair price this soon, usually at this point teams will just hang on to a guy until the deadline unless they're blown away. We needed a lot of what he brings, big shot, physical play but he's very mistake prone in his own end.
jennifer_rocket
I hope he has more character than what he showed during the "Sean Avery gesture" incident earlier in the season. If you check out youtube he can certainly drop the gloves, too.

DXStriker
does this mean subban is going to minors ?? lol Cause you cant take out Hammer and Spacek + Gill and gorges. So Wiznewski is one spot with 1 left between Picard Subban and weber lol

fnveenie
I really like this move, but I really do not like the fact that this is the last year of his contract. I'm hoping this means no more Picard because his mistakes are really starting to cost our team. I'm very excited about this acquisition.
