And he won't be on for our game.

It's always tempting to watch the game in English when i know he won't be on,, but my loyalty is with RDS until they can the guy and retire Cole.

I am totally disgusted with what he said yesterday,as if war was a glorious thing, has he ever been to war or suffered the atrocities of war,or had to wait for some one to come home from war,he should ask the families of the Canadian soldiers who are away fighting or the men who come back from war traumatised.

Please CBC shut him up.

GO HABS GO :o :o

I'd like to say i'm disgusted with him too maddie,, but i gave up listening to anything he had to say years ago, so i have no idea what foot he put in his mouth this time around. Another case of deja vu no doubt.

Don cherry is an dinosaur, he's so NOT politically correct and more times than not, puts his foot in his mouth. He's stuck in the 70's and the 70's style of play (he spent his career being a grinder in the AHL through the 60's and 70's).

But if you're able to look past the questionable, borderline racist comments and his god complex, he does bring up some valid points(from time to time). Most of the time he's wrong, he was against helmets, a lot of coaches/players were, just like they were against visors in the 80's and 90's.

But, I agree when he talks about the rise in injuries (speed of game), the over-pading which creates false sense of safety.

Back in the 70's and 80's, players didn't go all out hitting each other. Simply cos they risked injuring themselves. I really think something has to be done with the shoulder pads, they're ridiculous. I have the exact same shoulder pads used by a lot of players in the 70's and early 80's. The exact same ones Paul Newman wears in slapshot.

It was basically a lil bit of cloth (fabric), with one small piece of plastic over the shoulders. Even the goalie equipment I wore in the 80's protected less than the shoulder pads forwards use today. You might as well be hitting a guy with a baseball bat when players run their shoulders into a guys face or head... They're both just as hard.

He still brings up the odd good point. But his time has definitely passed.

I think he should retire from TV and continue with hockey Canada. He's done a lot of good with minor league hockey. For the players and Canadian minor leagues.

What exactly did he say? :o

He's an idiot on a lot of topics but he's always gone out of his way to support our troops and especially honour those who died in the line of duty and send his sympathies for their families. I mean I don't respect his opinions on much these days, but he's always been very genuine on that topic. I can't imagine he'd intentionally say anything to disparage the Canadian military or their familes.

No he didn't say anything to disparage the military, what he did say that the playoffs were war as if that was something great, something to be happy about,I am sorry but anything that makes war sound good is disgusting to me,he said that the fighting was as it should be and the bad hits.My son was at war, I have lived on the brink of war,I remember walking around as a kid looking at bombed out buildings, there is nothing great about war and for him to make it sound so is moronic.

GO HABS GO

First time I have ever used the angry face but he makes me feel that way.

Man oh man. <_< The CBC has some decent panel segments (the Hot Stove), but Stock, Hrudey, Cherry, Maclean, and a handful of others make it hard to tune in during the intermissions. I'd honestly rather go to the store for beer and chips or something. I wish the CBC would make some changes to its hockey analysis staff.
