Baubie your comic outdoes us all

Makes my efforts look terribly small

This is a pickle methinks we're in

It might be hard this game to get a win

We're stuck with our backs against the wire

This is the time for the team to catch fire

There is no way we will roll over and die

The hockey gods we'll deliberately defy

The hockey gods have had their fun

Now we are on a marathon run

All the way to the conference final and more

All we have to do is score and score

Carey will take care of most of the rest

I have faith in him, he is the best of the best

Smurfs we believe you have saved the best till last

Well you know it's coming up now, really fast

We need full participation on the ice

Getting to the net would be really nice

Our team is now some what depleted

But last years playoffs can be repeated

HABS you have the guts and grit

Just let us see it please,a little bit

We are the HABS fans we're not giving up

Not until you bring us home the cup

GO HABS GO :D :D

Canadiens' Mathieu Darche has missed the last 11 games with a groin injury, but is nearing a return to action.

MONTREAL - An exaggerated wheezing sound preceded Mathieu Darche as he made his way from the Bell Centre ice to the Canadiens locker room following a sparsely attended optional practice Wednesday.

"Does anyone have some extra lungs or legs I can borrow?" Darche asked as he slumped in his stall and answered questions about his health.

"I've skated five days in a row and it's getting better," said Darche, who has missed 11 games with a groin injury. "I still have work to do on my conditioning and then I have to skate with the team and get into game shape."

That's a roundabout way to say Darche won't be available Thursday night when the Canadiens play the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Bell Centre (7:30 p.m., TSN-A, RDS, CJAD Radio-800).

The Canadiens could use Darche because the team that boasted about its depth earlier this season is suddenly thinner than an anorexic runway model.

Tomas Plekanec and Jeff Halpern both left Tuesday's game against Washington with lower-body injuries. Head coach Jacques Martin didn't offer any insight into their ailments beyond saying they were "short-term" and their availability is "day-to-day."

But there was some evidence that Thursday isn't one of those days. With no spare forwards on hand, the Canadiens prepared for the worst-case scenario Wednesday afternoon when they called up Aaron Palushaj and Nigel Dawes from the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Dawes has 208 NHL games under his belt, but played only nine games with the Atlanta Thrashers this season and was in the minors when the Canadiens acquired him in the same deal that brought Brent Sopel here in return for Ben Maxwell.

He's one of the top scorers in the American Hockey League, but questions about his conditioning have derailed his NHL career.

Palushaj shares a University of Michigan background with Michael Cammalleri and the injured Max Pacioretty. He looked good in training camp, but lost out in the numbers game. If he plays, he'll be making his NHL debut.

"He was the Bulldogs' best player in the playoffs last season," Martin said of Palushaj, who was acquired from St. Louis in a trade for Matt D'Agostini.

The problem is that while both players are probably capable of filling in on the fourth line, Plekanec and Halpern have been playing on the top lines. Plekanec is the team's leading scorer and averages more than 20 minutes a game playing in all situations. Halpern is a veteran who is one of the team's top penalty-killers. Martin said the players would be missed on both offence and defence.

Tampa's Steven Stamkos said the game is important for both teams.

"We're trying to catch Washington and they're trying to catch us," Stamkos said.

The sixth-place Canadiens are four points back of Tampa, but Montreal is hoping to make up a four-point deficit on Boston in the Northeast Division race. The Canadiens did get some good news Wednesday night when Toronto beat ninth-place Carolina. Montreal is nine points clear of the Hurricanes and has played one less game.

Tampa is the first of a back-to-back series. The Canadiens are in New York Friday night to play the Rangers and Martin said he would probably start backup goaltender Alex Auld in one of those games. Look for Carey Price against Tampa and Auld in New York. Auld has a 4-0-2 record against the Rangers with an 0.98 goals-against average.

I like the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lines, and I just hope that Picard and Weber don't get caught with TBs top line. Don't know what to make of the 1st line tho.

I hope to see some hustle from the 4th line (when they get on the ice). Dawes should want to show what he can do, after playing over 200 games in the NHL, but I don't expect too much.

Haven't you heard? Six points in six games, Moen's now our top first-line sniper! ;)

We are going to need more than the luck of the Irish tonight

Everybody has to do it right

We just have to get out there and play

If in 6th we want to stay

I know we have a bit of a lead

But more points we really need

We are still chasing the Booins for our div

What a way we have to live

But I am not unhappy I am not down

We know our boys will go to town

A bit of fresh blood could do us good

I know we're all knocking on wood

It seems that Max is doing fine

Could be back for the playoffs,in time

Now I know for us that is good news

Helps chase away my injury blues

GO HABS GO :D :D
