thanks swansee

is there gas left in the dog's tank?

I sure hope so - but they were so flat to start last night. Many here think a lot of players are playing hurt

but of course we won't know that until the season is over. There were bursts last night that show that

they still have it but they MUST start playing a simpler game and shooting quickly and often. Houston

is fast and relentless and protect the middle well - we need to shoot and look for rebounds - Hackett

seems prone to this!

Today’s Game

This is the second time the two teams have met in the Calder Cup Playoffs. The two clubs previously met in a seven-game series in 2003

when the Houston Aeros defeated the Bulldogs in seven games in the Calder Cup Finals. The ‘Dogs lost the first two games of a series for

the first time this post-season after being defeated 2-1 on May 13th and 3-2 on May 15th, both in Houston. The Aeros took a 3-0 series

lead last night with a 3-2 win over the ‘Dogs at Copps Coliseum. Jon DiSalvatore led the attack for Houston with two goals while Patrick

O’Sullivan chipped in with two assists. The Bulldogs defeated the Oklahoma City Barons in six games in their North Division Semi-Final

series before downing the Manitoba Moose in seven games to become the North Division Playoff Champions. The Aeros swept the Peoria

Rivermen in four games in the West Division Semi-Finals and then knocked out the Milwaukee Admirals in seven games in the West

Division Finals. The ‘Dogs had a 1-1-0-0 record against the Aeros in the 2010-2011 regular season. Houston finished in second place in the

West Division with a 46-28-1-5 record and 98 points. RW Jon DiSalvatore (28-33-61) finished atop the Aeros’ scoring charts in the

regular season with 28 goals and 33 assists for 61 points in 80 games played this season. The Bulldogs finished in first place in the North

Division standings with a 44-27-2-7 record and 97 points. LW Nigel Dawes (41G, 31A), who was acquired by Montreal on February 24th,

led Hamilton in points with 72 during the regular season. There are five Ontario natives currently listed on the Manitoba roster: D Jamie

Fraser (Sarnia), Scott Campbell (Navan), G Matt Hackett (London), LW Brandon Buck (Delaware) and D Tyler Cuma

(Bowmanville).

Quick Notes

- The Bulldogs Game 7, 2-1 triple overtime win over the Manitoba Moose in the North Division Finals series was the longest Game 7 in

the AHL’s 75-year history

- Bulldogs leading scorer LW Nigel Dawes (41G,31A) finished the regular season with 41 goals becoming the first Bulldog to do so. Paul

Healey had previously held the record of most goals by a Bulldog in a season when he scored 39 during the 2000-2001 season. Dawes

leads the ‘Dogs in post-season scoring with 16 points (10G,6A) and has had four multi-point games and two multi-goal games.

- D Mathieu Carle is currently on a three-game point streak (1G,2A). He’s recorded seven points (2G,5A) in 15 post-season games.

- G Drew MacIntyre ranks third in the AHL in goals-against-average this post-season with a 1.82 GAA. He also ranks second in the

league in save percentage with a .933 SV%. He’s started the past 37 straight ‘Dogs games dating back to the regular season.
