ColRouleBleu
Darren Dreger of TSN reports that: Colin Campbell is giving up role as NHL disciplinarian. Brendan Shanahan will likely take over. Campbell will remain key component in Hockey Ops. Shanny's role has continually evolved, so it made sense to make change. ----------------------- Time for every hockey fan to rejoice? - except maybe Boston's then again I said hockey fan

Manatee-X
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=367566 The best part is the second part of the story: there's a chance that they will change how the discipline system works. Even if Shanahan would do a better job than Campbell, IMO it's the allowing one guy to arbitrarily punish as he sees fit that really needs to change. RocketPower
Good news about time - need someone that shows more equality when handing out discipline .
Guest
About two years too late but it's about time the NHL finally deals with that travesty they call a justice system.

Guest habs1952
If Campbell is Shanahan's boss I'd still be leery of any decisions regarding the Bruins. But good riddance. Discipline can't get any worse. Can they?
Clues
I have to say, coming on and seeing this first thing made me incredibly happy.

habs_93
Unfortunately, the piece of... stuff isn't getting forced out, he's just no longer managing supplementary discipline. He still has a cushy job, and still exerts control over people who keep his dirtbag little son in check. I'm happy, but not.
uncivilengineer
I'm almost certain its because Boston is in the SCF and if they win on any questionable head office decisions they'd never hear the end of it.

FirstStar
Best news I've heard all day! Specially after that stupid comment he made after the Torres/Seabrooke incident. He actually said,"I've been out of hockey too long to know what's going on...".

FirstStar
Anyone know what made him want to step down? He finally got some common sense? Now if only bettman can pick up on the subtle clues... Funny, every arena he goes into, whether it's for the allstar game, to award trophies or the stanley cup, he is booed. Really, can't he get the hint? BLAMEITONPKSUBBAN
Maybe he wanted to be the daddy who bragged that he didn't "help" him get the Cup.
Guest
From what i have read,, it appears this doesn't take effect until next season. Even though Murphy has been assigned to handle the Cup Finals,,,he still answers to Campbell. We might not have heard the last of him quite yet. He has to watch over his son's team. Make sure they get preferential treatment.
CANADIENS27
It looks like Shanahan's first order of business needs to be Alex Burrows for biting Patrice Bergeron, something more commonly found in professional wrestling and the NFL.
CANADIENS27
There will be no disciplinary action taken against Burrows apparently due to a lack of evidence. So much for a good start under Shanahan.
