Canadiens Legend Beliveau To Undergo Surgical Procedure

Recommended Posts

The Montreal Canadiens announced on Friday that team legend and club ambassador Jean Beliveau is scheduled to undergo a surgical procedure next week.

The 79-year-old Hall of Fame member will have endovascular surgery done to repair abdominal aneurysms.

The preventative procedure is a minimally invasive surgery.

Canadiens owner Geoff Molson said in a release that he wished the 17-time Stanley Cup Champion well with his convalescence.

"On behalf of all of our fans, players and the entire Montreal Canadiens family, I would like to wish Mr. Beliveau a prompt and complete recovery," said Molson.

Beliveau is expected to require a few months to recover from the surgery

Get well soon, Jean. I'll never forget meeting you the second time I met Maurice Richard.

I said your name long and slow, and loved every minute of it - J-E-A-N B-E-L-I-V-E-A-U.

Please don't get the idea that I'm shouting here - I'm just trying to recreate the effect of my saying his name long and slow. I love his name, and love him as a player and person.
