MIASUN
This is always my favorite thread but man is it depressing on this forum tonight, here goes nothing: Pacioretty Plekanec Kostitsyn Cammalleri Desharnais Cole Moen Eller Leblanc Darche Noke Blunden Kaberle Gorges Gill Subban Emelin Diaz Price
tony5775
Would like to see the some forwards in the press box and go one game with Eller centering Emelin and Diaz. Its time to think outside the box.

Gives Eller a chance to show what he can do with the teams two leading goal scorers.
jennifer_rocket
I thought the practice lines were very interesting. Eller between Pacioretty and Cole could be interesting to watch. However, if Cunneyworth thinks Desharnais is going to get Cammalleri going... I'm not so sure about that.
MIASUN
I think the lines are interesting. There is some different looks to it: The Pleks line can be played against the Spezza line because of their defensive awareness and AK and Pleks can use the simplicity of Moen to grind out some goals in transition. Eller's line gives the Habs their first 6'2 200lbs line, pretty much EVER, it's at least intriguing and might allow Lars the chance to focus more on distributing the puck rather than defense and ragging, now he'll lug it with a purpose. The cycle should work well too. DD and Cammy with Leblanc is either going to be minus 2 or plus 2, it won't be a neutral game. Creativity and talent combined with lack of defensive prowess, will be cringe worthy, yet interesting. I like the D pairings if it means Emelin is on the L and campoli-weber are in the pressbox. 31Careyprice
Max-Pac-Eller-Cole Can't wait to see this line, puts 3 big physical players with goal scoring ability. The line will be force for thw habs 5 on 5 hockey.

I agree that the Cammy line looks pretty bad defensively, but they probably won't be up against any threats. I mean you said that the Pleks line will likely shut down the Spezza line. Ottawa's second line will probably be up against the Eller line most of the time. So, the DD line will probably be up against Ottawa's third line most of the time. Which if I'm correct doesn't have any threats. DD and Cammy had chemistry when they played together.

jedimaas
Obviously one game does not a season make, but I really liked the forward lines Conneyworth put together. I also like the way they should get better as guys come back from injury: Last night we saw: Moen - Plekanec - AK Patches - Eller - Cole LeBlanc - DD - Cammy In a perfect world, when Gionta comes back, he goes onto the Pleks line in lieu of Moen. Moen bumps Leblanc & gives that line some defensive conscience. Lines then become: Gio - Pleks - AK Patches - Eller - Cole Moen - DD - Cammy Of course, in this scenario, Scott Gomez is the odd man out. But that may be the truth, no matter how you set up your lines.

I'd actually prefer to see Gomez play the wing on that DD line, and then have Moen-Noke-White on the 4th.

MIASUN
First it was Kostopoulos with Carbo, then Laraque in the playoffs, then it was Moen for JM and now it's Blunden with RC, what is the deal with recent Hab coaches glorifying grinders?!?!?! I know were starved for size but enough is enough here. Eller goes from bench to Cole to Blunden. I don't get this constant shuffling. Here are the best lines when Gionta returns, period: Cammalleri Desharnais Cole Moen Pleks Gionta Pacioretty Eller Kostitsyn Darche Noke Blunden Gorges Subban Gill Kaberle Emelin Diaz Price Leblanc in the minors getting 22 mins a night. Campoli traded anywhere for a 3rd rounder ASAP.
MIASUN
If Pleks is going to be your defacto "checking line" 2 way player put him with checkers and 2 way players. If DD needs size and skill to be useful, put him with size and skill. If Eller needs to rag the puck but can't finish, put him with shooting speed demons. An NHL 4th line, feat Darche, Noke and Blunden/soon to be White. Keep those lines intact until somebody gets traded or hurt.
BigTed3
Will be interesting, assuming Gio is back Saturday and Gomez shortly after. I'll start with just adding just Gio back in and say the following: 1. After tonight, it's clear the Eller line will and should stay intact for now. 2. Cammy and Pleks should be on separate lines but both in the top 9. 3. DD should stay with Cole. That gives us: Pacman-Pleks-Gio Cammy-DD-Cole Moen-Eller-AK46 Darche-Noke-Blunden And on D... Kaberle-Gorges Gill-Subban Emelin-Diaz
grecohab
Lines for the rest of the year: Cammalleri-Plekanec-Cole Pacioretty-Desharnais-Gionta Moen-Eller-Kostitsyn Blunden-Nokaleinen-Darche/White ex. Gomez,Darche/White Subban-Gorges Emelin-Diaz Gill-Kaberle ex.Weber,Campoli Lines for next year: Kostitsyn-Eller-Cole B.Ryan(1)-Plekanec-VanRiemsdyk(2) Pacioretty-Desharnais-Moen Shelley(2)-Gaustad(3)-White ex. Blunden,Nokaleinen Markov-Gorges Kaberle-Boychuk(4) Emelin-Diaz ex. weepingminotaur
With Gionta returning to the lineup, I would quite frankly sit Pacioretty for a game. If Cunneyworth can do it to Eller and Subban, he can surely do it to Pacioretty, who IMO has been pretty much a zero for the past month. So, for next game: Cole-Plekanec-Gionta Cammalleri-Desharnais-Leblanc Kostitsyn-Eller-Moen Blunden-Nokelainen-Darche Gorges-Subban Kaberle-Emelin Gill-Diaz

There was a huge drop off in his production and presence the last 11-15 games. The message would be to re-focus and think about he can be a useful physical body yet again. Plus, Leblanc and Cammalleri showed some good flashes together previously so this doesn't hurt.
dwdemonwolf
Agree about sitting Pacioretty, he has lacked presence for a good stretch now and doesn't seem to have a jump in his step. Cole has carried their line all the way.
grecohab
I disagree in benching Pacioretty. I am actually not a fun of benching at all. I am not convinced that Eller's 5pts game was the result of benching him a week ago. If you are going to coach with authority and bench the unproductive players, you ought to take no exemptions and bench the vets too. I think refocusing and motivating must be achieved through training and practicing. The solution of Pacioretty's slump is not benching by a coach, but coach convincing in playing harder (motivating) and explaining the players role in the team (refocusing).
