GermanHabsNation
Here's what hockeyfights.com wrote about him in their draft preview. Dietz didn't drop the gloves too often this season but when he did he made it count. His willingness to fight some of the tougher guys in the league was impressive. One specific quality that makes Dietz attractive to NHL scouts is his skating. Combine that with his toughness and you have yourself a pretty solid project pick. http://www.hockeyfights.com/quickhits/entry/nhl-draft-preview-2011

S-Bah
What potetial does he have as a shutdown defenseman? He played on Saskatoon's 1st PP by the end of the season and scored eight goals mostly on the 2nd PP unit. That was double the goals scored by teammate Duncan Seimens drafted 11th overall this year.Stefan Elliot was the highest scoring defencemen for Saskatoon drafted in the 2nd round last year by Colorado. So chances are he will be a two-way defenceman somewhere in between those two. Thats not bad, a good two way defenseman will have benefits on the dogs/habs IMO.

Maybe he'll turn into something.
Flunky
FYI, Darren Dietz tied an all-time WHL record for goals by a defenseman in one game this past Thursday as he potted four goals in a 7-3 white-washing of provincial rivals Swift Current. In fact, Darren came within inches of establishing a new league record as he rang one off the post with just under five minutes remaining in the third. Hats off to Double D! Inquisitive
Good for him, he deserves this, although he's been surrounded by great D (Siemens, Thrower to name a few.) and also a great team, which I'm sure has helped his cause. Actually, it was expected that Thrower would perform better than him this year, but clearly that was not the case, maybe he's helped make people around him better. I've watched a few games, he's a great two way defenseman, although a tad more offensive upside, but needs to work on his skating. However, take this judgement lightly, as it's only based on a few games. I'll give him this: So far, he's proven that he is far more than a 5th round pick. Can't wait to see him with the young bulldogs, who are heavily criticized this year. Keep in mind that it is still a young team where three quarters of the team have had to adjust. Inquisitive
I hope thrower makes the jump too and they can play in hamiliton together. Yes, both of them do show lots of promise. The thing with Thrower is that he has been a healthy scratch half a dozen times this year for his poor attitude on and off the ice... Not to mention he's been less productive as compared to last year. however, he's still young, he still has time to learn.
kinot-1
Darren Dietz capped a solid junior career with a season in which he led all CHL blueliners in goals (24) and participated in the Memorial Cup with the host Saskatoon Blades. The only WHL player to have more than 40c PTs. and 100 PIMs.
kinot-1
. Darren Dietz, cut from training camp just a few days ago, has been recalled from Hamilton to fill in the void on the Habs’ blueline.
Inquisitive
It's been a tough adjusting year for Darren Dietz with the bulldogs. Dietz impressed during training camp, enough to be one of the last prospects cut. However, with the bulldogs, he has 0 goals, 5 assists in 30 games with a -2 and 45 PIMS. Keep in mind that he must be pretty low on the bulldogs depth chart at the moment, since Beaulieu, Tinordi, Pateryn and possibly even Ellis are ahead of him, which means his ice-time must be pretty low. THEBIGGESTHABSFAN123
Ellis is definitely ahead of him, he's been great this year. But he is injured right now.
