Yeah no kidding. They're coming out of the woodwork. Seems like for every one that's reported we've already nailed 10 of them. One registered at 3:21 yesterday and was banned at 3:22. I hope he had fun going through the process, because it only takes us all of 10 seconds to get rid of him.

Do you have to track down spam, or anything inappropriate? What I mean is,,,,do you have to actually go looking for spam, inappropriate language, comments, etc.? Or do you have something like a "pop-up", that tells you whenever a new comment is posted, wherever it is on the forums, so you can go directly to that post and make a judgement call? Guest
We have to read everything that's posted in search of infractions. We only get pop ups on reported posts that we may not have gotten to yet.. Judgement calls are only on the borderline stuff and we'll often consult as a group on those. Normally an infraction is pretty much cut and dry.

Yeah it is,,,,especially in that random chat and who posts last threads. :P At times when you log in and see another mod already there, you can assume he/she has already checked new content, so you can mark everything as read and go from there. In those instances i usually just catch up on the threads that i have a particular interest in.

Soooo....If you want to point fingers at one of us three, it better be yourself or 52.

Flying_Lion
Couple of questions. Not sure if this is the right place. Anyone else notice that the "Hockey" link at the top of the page doesn't work? Also, am I the only one that can't get the Forum to work on their iPhone? Anyone else notice that the "Hockey" link at the top of the page doesn't work? Also, am I the only one that can't get the Forum to work on their iPhone? Apparently it was discontinued From a bit back: Here's an update 1. The mobile app has been disabled permanently 2. The plain IP skin has been fixed 3. All login issues have been resolved 4. The spell check app has been installed Again, please post any other issues and I'll look into them. Thanks If you go back to the post, there is more discussion and it was mentioned that there is an app that could be used but it's not available in Canada or something like that. I'm not sure, I don't have a an iPhone.

kinot-1
Does anyone else have words underlined , when they post,,,,or is it just on my PC? Then when I run the cursor over it,,,,there's a small box that pops up with some sort of ad. Maybe in this "new" forums, the powers that be, are making a few bucks this way. For intstance,,,,in the Halpern thread, I posted the he was a nice cheap pick-up, and the word "cheap" was underlined and blue. When I ran my cursor over it, there was an ad for electronics, on an auction site. Maybe they think my laptop is old.
FirstStar
Actually, that happens when I use the shop computer. It's the new "type" of pop ups or spam. Instead of the pop ups like we use to get (good anti virus blocks those), they have it now so they underline certain words with a link attached or they'll put a ticker at the bottom of the page or even adds on the right hand side(they make it look as if it's part of the page you're on, but it isn't, you can close those). Real pain in the butt, only way to get rid of it is by reformating. Hard to get rid of these things once they're installed on your computer. It also places little links under certain pics, it's a "compare item" link. For example, if you're on a web page shopping, you'll notice a small square box that says similar and it'll show you other web pages with similar items that you're looking at. For some reason on the work computer, HTL's sig pic always has the "see similar" button in the bottom left hand corner of his pic. Pain in the butt these things. Welcome to the next generation of spammers.

FirstStar
I don't have that problem. Probably because I use Norton Internet Security to protect my computer. It has nothing to do with Norton. It has to do with how you download things. Basically when downloading software they always ask if you want add ons and tool bars. Always say NO to tool bars and add ons, that's how they install this spam into your computer. The shop computer is a community computer, so we have employees downloading all sorts of "free" software. Those are the worst, they're free cos they allow companies to install tracking cookies, tool bars and add ons. I never accept toolbars or add ons and have no problems with my personal desktop and/or laptop.

Yup the "new" age. Like in my reply to H-52, be careful when downloading "free" software. Companies are tricky now with their wording, they make it seem that you have to take the add ons to be able to install their programs. Read carefully, if it says, "click 'next' to install toolbar/add ons", don't click "continue" or "next", click on "no thanks" or "close", it'll close the window and start installing the program you wanted without all the crap. But they make it seem with their wording and the options available that you won't be able to install the program without accepting the toolbars or add ons. They've gotten very sly and many people fall for it. I have fallen for it before.
