If you want some really tasty tomatoes feed them beer now and again,it's okay it's organic, and don't forget to take out the shoots when it starts to get bigger, lots of water, feed and water at the base of the plant, just give Tommy lots of love but female plants get the best fruit.

I don't buy beer,,,,so that won't work, but I have some fertilizer coming in next week. I do know about the suckers/shoots, lots of water too.

How do you check to see if it's M or F ?:lol:

I hope the fertilizer is organic,I don't know if you can tell if it's a male or female, with some plants it's easy but not sure about tomatoes.

I had a little excitement last nite, for my lifeless life.

I live on the ground floor of a 3 story walk-up and I have patio doors opening to a patio. About 5:20 yesterday afternoon, I was sitting here as usual, at the PC, with the patio door open but screen door closed, when all of a sudden, I hear a "whomp", from outside. I look out and there on the grass not 7' from my door, is a guy on the ground  . I got up and said to him, "WTH are you doing?". He looked at me and, without saying a word, got up and ran fast around the end of the building (about 100'). I looked up at the apts. above me and on the 2nd floor, the door and window was open. I don't know who lives there.

Hmmmm, what to do? OK,,,phone the cops. I did that and they came about 45 min. later <_< (someone could have been dying).

They took my info, description etc., and then went to the superintendant.

Cops come back. Seems there is a woman who lives upstairs with her son, who fits my description of him. The cops said they would try to get ahold of the woman, and then left.

So,,,,,I am watching last nites game, and I keep checking the upstairs door to see if someone came home,,,,,nope,,,door is open and the curtains are blowing. About 9 PM, I hear a "tinny" sound outside. Outside there is a woman and man with a ladder. They are putting it up to the apt above, and he starts up the ladder. I asked if they needed a hand and she said that no, they were just trying to get into her apt. . I went back to watching the game and a few min. later they took the ladder away, and that was it.

What I deduced from all of that, was that her son, perhaps didn't have a key to lock the apt. door, so he decided to leave by the patio door, and jump to the ground. Mom was maybe working.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean that in a rude way or anything. I was being serious, we ought to have a thread for stories.

I know you didn't clues,,,,never entered my mind. :)

You might suggest it in the Veterans, Captains etc. forum, and see what others think. :)

  I've got this mental picture of some poor guy falling 15 floors, hitting the ground with a "whoomp" and you standing there asking him "WTH are you doing?"

Story Time. I thought about putting this in the passing away thread but I suppose that one's not for animals.

The Bird

My mom was sitting out in our backyard when a white pigeon-like (or it actually was a pigeon) fell from the sky with a thud onto the grass. By her account, it got up, flew around in a circle and then went down again. This time behind some plants near our fence. I came out and she told me and I went to see it. It looked hurt and it was having seizure-like spasms. I couldn’t just leave it there. I got gloves and went behind the bushes to get it. I was hoping inside that it would miraculously flap its wings and fly away but it became apparent that there was something very wrong with it.

I held as it writhed and it’s neck went back and forth. I set it down a few times to see what would happen but nothing. I didn’t know how long it would be so I just sat there trying to calm it down (if that was even a possibility) it was about maybe 10 minutes I had been with it and I was looking at it, holding it up to see it and I noticed out of the corner of my eye someone had come out from the side door. Later I would realise it was my sister. As soon as that happened the bird stopped its beak was still a bit open as it was before like it was trying to breathe but the spasms stopped. I said, “it sopped”. I could still feel its heart and I could still feel whatever it was that was going on inside of it as it was passing away. I literally felt the life leave it as it was in my hands. It made one last movement and then its head slowly lowered and its eyelids closed a bit.

I held it for a while just to feel the weight of it and shed a few tears. We buried it in our backyard at the back, under the bushes, near the fence. As my mom was digging the hole, some birds of the same type flew by over head and I’d like to think that was some sort of salute but that’s just me

Horrible story beaubie, we're a pet friendly household (bring in all sorts of wounded animals), I feel for you.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it may have been poisoned. We have a huge pigeon problem here, all of a sudden a lot of the pigeons around here started to die. An autopsy was done on one of the pigeons and found to have been poisoned. Since we have the airport close, there are falcons to keep other birds at bay. The city is very concerned cos whoever is poisoning the pigeons could be involuntarily poisoning the falcons (who eat the pigeons)and they are a protected bird.

I hope they find who is poisoning them. As annoying as they are, can't use my porch, they're still a living creature.

beaubie,,,,,,no-one likes to see wounded animals die, and it is especially difficult when the animal dies with you there. I imagine that we feel sad for that animal, because we "feel" a connection (even though it was not a pet), and because we know that we are helpless, and because we are the last person to be with that animal. It would have died without you being there, but you were, and hopefully, it knew that you cared.

I think animals do, I dont know why but it just seems easier on me to think that way :)

That's terrible. :( Poisoning seems plausible because there was nothing physically wrong with it that I could see. A death like that is not right.

I just cried, can't stand to hear of suffering like that, especailly if it was poisoned which is very likely, you can usually tell if an animal has been sick,by thier wieght and coat or feathers,I feel for you Baubie it's not good to see anything suffer. But I am sure it knew you cared, all creatures have instincts.

the rules of poker should be that a flush with 4 in a row, or just short of a straight flush should beat another flush if that other flush has the high card to my mind...

so the 2,3,4,5,10 of clubs should beat an ace high flush...

don't ya think? :P

I rarely read any Spam I get,,,,,but today I did. In it were 2 emails, one from somebody, asking about my Linekin (SP) account (what's Linekin? ), and the other from someone from the UAE, who is dying in a London England hospital. The Linekin one, I permanently deleted, but I opened the UAE one.

Now, this guy is a filthy rich businessman, who is on his deathbed. He has already given away a lot of "alms" to his family, friends, etc., and now he has chosen me :o (of alllllll the people in the world), to give away the rest of the $$$. However, for doing this, I shall receive 40% of the total to be distributed (:) ) . The other 60%, shall go to charities (doesn't say if they're his or mine).

Did I get lucky,,,,,,,,, or what? (insert sarcastic remark)

One thing I don't understand is,,,,,,,why doesn't he get a real genuine philanthropist to do it? <_<

And where is his executor?

I have read about people who received these scam emails and how they "played" the scammers, sometimes for months. They are a hoot to read

You must mean "LinkedIn". Sort of a business professional Facebook/online resume where people post where they're working, previous jobs, etc.

You should also go for the money. Send all personal details immediately!!! (disclaimer: I don't REALLY mean for you to do this. But it will distract you for some time.)
