Oh and I totally forgot about the story where Kinot left his cell phone in a department store in Saginaw.

Here's a classic case of "Failure to Communicate".

About 3 weeks ago, I joined the local Community center to work out in their weight room. They have 2 elliptical machines there, and I use one of them for an hour each day.

Well, last Thurs. I went in to work out, and found there was a note on each of the machines that said they were down for maintenance. I asked the guy behind the desk about it, and he didn't know anything about it  . Fri. was the same thing. On Mon., I decided to ask the manager about it to get her take. She looked at the guy behind the desk and then said that she didn't know about it either  , but suggested I come back today. I did, and everything was OK, so I worked out. About 1/2 way thru my exercising, the manager came in. She then proceeded to tell me that the "Down for Maintenance" signs were left on the machines by mistake. Seems the maintenance guy forgot to take them down when he was done. < insert theme from the Twilight Zone here >

Wow.......you joined three weeks ago and the machines are already down for maintenance!

I played this with Charlie Chaplins speech from The Great Dictator. Theres a video called the Greatest Speech ever made that has clips up to match the discussion that works amazingly with the song but im not sure if i should post it

Too techy for me  , HTB,,,but the music is nice. :)

Back in the day ('69-'73), I worked in Sudbury as a miner, mostly as a driller. I, along with my partner, would drill holes in the ore, load them up with blasting powder, and bang,,,pieces of ore. There is more to it than that, but that's the concept.

Fast forward to last nite. I was listening to the Sting/Spits game on the net, and sort-of watching a show on TV about big machines. They were talking to a guy from my old employer in Sudbury, whilst showing a robotic drilling machine and a robotic scoop-tram (big machine, big bucket on the front,,got it?). The scoop-tram was remote controlled from an office by a woman with monitors around her showing where the scoop-tram was going to scoop up the ore and take it somewhere else, and she controlled it from her office.

The drilling machine was controlled by a guy with this thingy around his shoulders and basically told the machine where to drill, and then have it load up the holes, and bang,,,,manageable ore. Then the remote scoop-tram would come in and haul it away.

Back in the day,,,2 guys were drilling for 2 days to accomplish the same thing, and for only about 5 hours per day, because your time started from the time you got on the elevator, until you got back up. It took time to walk to the lunch room (about 1/2 mile),,,,then get your orders from your boss,,,,then walk to your worksite (another 1/4 mile), include breaks, lunch and the walk back to the elevator,,,and you only worked about 5 hours.

These remotes can work for 8 hours.

Technology at it's best.

the only time i was ever asked for blasting powder was by my friend julian for his father. julian was from cuernavaca which is a hacienda outside of mexico city where back in the 1800's zapata, one of the leaders of the revolution was lured to his death while on his huge white horse.

i looked cuernavaca up for a second on wikipedia and noticed that it was home to leary and the psychedelic revolution for a time too, but it seems to have an extremely rich history, which i thank you kinot for leading me to....

we had big head todd at the jam a couple weeks ago. his old stuff isn't as bad as i thought, but i was judging from his new stuff.

Ya know archey,,,,I just love jam sessions (down in AZ,,,,they had lots of them, around the various RV parks, mostly country and some jazz), they sure can play and sing. :)

In other news,,,on Tues. I am going to Sarnia to try to take some pics and movies of the waves from Frankenstorm. They had the Sarnia mayor on TV. tonite, and he said the waves were 18'-25' (6-8 meters) high. By my accounts, by noon tomorrow, they should have subsided a bit, so hopefully I can get some good pics/movies to post. They have a great park there, where Lake Huron empties into the St. Clair River (about a mile wide), but IMO, it (the park) is only about 15' above lake level. Maybe some streets will be blocked off.

We'll see what happens.
