Lucic Involved In Yelling Match With Girlfriend

Stanley Cup hero Milan Lucic was questioned by police early yesterday after he and his girlfriend got into an altercation in the North End.

According to a police report of the incident, the Bruins left winger was “highly intoxicated and hostile” after he and his galpal argued outside a Starbucks on Commercial Street shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Witnesses told police the 6-foot-4, 220-pound hockey player was yelling at his girlfriend, who was on the ground, and at one point threw her shoes and purse at her. However, the woman told police she was not physically assaulted and “was adamant about not being harmed,” the report states. Police “did not observe any visible injuries,” the report says, and Lucic was not charged.

Bruins spokesman Matt Chmura confirmed that the team was “aware of an incident that took place in the North End early Tuesday morning involving Milan Lucic.”

“We are addressing the matter internally,” Chmura said. “At this time we have no further comment.”

What a ridiculous hit on Ryan Miller last night. This guy's an embarrassment to the league.

There's no question he's a dirty player. What I wonder is, when (if, I guess, knowing this goon bush league  ) he'll start to get called on it and sit some games.

Too right, Lucic is a disgusting example of a hockey player.

Part of me, though, wonders just how quick he would have been to try that if it was Roy playing that puck. They would have had to take Lucic away in a stretcher...

agreed. But were in a different era it seems. It seems everyone in the league is just so scared of the big bad bruins

Lucic will get his in time. If age has taught me anything it's this: no matter how good you are, someday someone else will come along who is better then you. I am simply waiting for the day someone knocks lucy down a peg or two.

If BGL had done his job when he should have,,,lucy might be a "little" different player right now.

Sabres fans are calling out the management for not addressing the "toughness" issue, as well the should.

Sound familiar? <_<

Apparently the shoes and purse didn't match the rest of her outfit Milan was wearing,so he gave them back.More to come in the near future on Lucic's dressing apparel and his girlfriends opposition to it in public!

Even if BGL had fought Lucic, nothing would have changed. This isn't the NHL of old and people need to understand that. The NHL has made sure that guys like Lucic will be allowed to exist. If BGL had ever fought Lucic, it would have been BGL's head. Look at what the referees did to Nokelainen when they played the Rangers. The next time Buffalo and Boston play, Kaleta will go after Lucic and you can count on it. Whatever the outcome, it won't change Lucic's game. Chara almost killed someone last year and that didn't change his game. These guys have no care, they know they're protected by today's NHL.

Even if they could get clobbered by enforcers out there, they wouldn't stop doing it. The league as a whole is just bigger, badder, and tougher than before. I don't think anything short of a 'Bertuzzi' would guys like Lucic from doing what they do on a regular basis.

Meeting with Shanny today. I don't expect too much to come of it, but I have a feeling in the old regime it wouldn't even have gone this far.

I posted this in the "Hits to the Head" thread as well.

From NHL.com @ 3:30 today.

TORONTO -- After a thorough review of the play, including a formal disciplinary hearing Monday, Brendan Shanahan, NHL Senior Vice President of Player Safety and Hockey Operations, has decided against any further discipline to Boston forward Milan Lucic for his hit on Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller in Saturday's game at TD Garden.

Shanahan held a hearing with Lucic via conference call because he had specific questions he wanted to ask before making a determination on potential supplemental discipline.

"I had the hearing because I did make an initial assessment of the play as I do with all plays, but I did have some questions for Milan and I wanted to hear directly from him," Shanahan told NHL.com. "They were regarding his intent; at what point did he know there was going to be a collision; and whether or not he felt he had the time to avoid the collision. I was satisfied with his answers."

Shanahan said the minor penalty for charging was the proper call in this case because it follows Rule 42.1, which reads "a goalkeeper is not fair game just because he is outside the goal crease area."

I am still in awe that no one,Kaleta or whoever did not come to Miller's defense ....If I was miller...I'd have a few chosen words for the boys after the game....like really, come on.<_<

And one wonders why Lucic & company feel they can patrol around the league in the fashion they do...and get away with crap.

Because they can? <_<

They came to Miller's defense. Didn't amount to much. but they went right for him. Also Chara got into it, whatcha gonna do with that big ape on the ice.

Chara no.....but later on in the game....lots of time for pay back on Lucic...IMO....they did squat for backing him up...............and actually, some of his teammates are publicly saying so today.

I think this is definitely worthy of a suspension.

Goalie's don't have a free reign, once out of their crease they are vulnerable. In lucic's case though, he went right for Miller. He said afterwards there was nothing he could do.

Goalie's deserve a lil push behind the net if they have the puck, but they're not expecting to be run over like skaters are. Miller wasn't prepared at all for that impact.

And I believe the head was a target.

We'll see what Shanny has to say.

He already spoke and agreed with Lucic, no intent, no suspension.
