Game thread isn't up yet, but the lines for tonight will be:

Cammalleri-Plekanec-Gionta

Palushaj-Dumont-Trotter

Schultz-Massé-Lefebvre

DeSimone-Archambault-Moen

Beaulieu-Gorges

Specek-Woywitka

Mitera-St-Denis

Yeeesh, looks like we could get destroyed tonight. That blue line looks ooogly

Price gets the full game tonight too...Ouch loll

Odds of making the team after tonight...

D

Woywitka 40%

Diaz 25%

Mitera falls out of the running for me. Hasn't done enough to overtake anyone and he's running out of time. It's a two-man battle between Woywitka and Diaz for the 8th D man spot (if we keep one), although there's still a chance one of them steals Weber's spot or replaces Markov to start the year. After tonight, I think there's a higher chance we'll see one kept.

Up front

Palushaj 30%

Engqvist 28%

Trotter 10%

Willsie 10%

Dumont 10%

Blunden 8%

Gallagher 4%

Palushaj finally has a good game, so he takes over top spot for now. Engqvist stays near the top due to the fact he fits the team's needs better. Trotter was not terrible tonight, but not as good as Palushaj, so his stock falls slightly because they are at best fighting for one spot. Dumont's stock rises a bit and Gallagher holds on in the mix.

IMO... the severity of injuries to players currently signed by the Habs and on the roster will determine if any propspects get to play at the start of the season. Like any other year (just about) the conservative approach could be what we see (regardless if some young players/prospects looked better than others).

I don't necessariy agree with that approach, but that seems to be the way it has been in recent years. Most if not all will be returned to their junior teams, assigned to the AHL, waived, traded or released. The exception could be Yemelin perhaps as it is probably doubtful that he would accept being assigned to the Bulldogs (his offer seemed to indicate as much).

According to Capgeek.com Brock Trotter is penciled in as the 13th roster forward. He has not impressed very much and perhaps Palushaj can take that spot. Because of the injury to Eller, Andreas Engqvist could also see some playing time to start the season I guess. Both were call-ups last year.

Money (cap dollars) and contract status may play into it as well... even with the Habs currently with approximately 4 million still available. So a player that has impressed somewhat, like Gabriel Dumont at a lower cost, could get a look.

One good thing about the pre-season is that it does allow the Habs to showcase potential prospect/player trade bait if they are still looking in that direction.

Overall though... I'm not counting on any propect bumping out vets.

Does anyone know when the next series of cuts are planned for? I feel like we've been icing rosters that are fairly weak so far. I'm hoping to see a more complete team sometime soon so I can get a better idea of what the team is going to be like heading into the season.

I'm right there with you. This idea of icing the minimum amount of roster players is starting to bother me. We've seen enough of the kids, get them out of of there and get the team together.

IMO we can send down all prospects except Engvist, Palushaj, Trotter, Gallagher(maybe), Diaz, Woywitka and maybe Henry.

These guys are the only ones fighting for a spot or really impresssing. Beaulieu has done well, but we all know he will not make the team. These guys will be the last cuts

Spot on. And I say it's soon time to make some of the aforementioned cuts and get this roster in shape for opening night. Hopefully some cuts come tomorrow.

Agreed. I understand it is nice to see the prospects, but there is no need to keep the career AHLers and players we know are 1-2 years away from even cracking the AHL roster.

There should be cuts after the Boston game, don't know if they will be announced tonight but certainly before the TB games. After last night's affair, the bubble players move a little more again, but the big news for me now is Renaud Lavoie reporting White will not be ready for the first week of the season and that Eller is likely to miss the first game. This means we will likely keep at least 2 bubble forward to start the year, if not a third as a reserve 13th attacker as well. Thus the odds of each forward making the team out of camp go up.

Woywitka 45%

Still a two-way battle for the last D spot, and the odds of one making it go up higher the longer Markov's return isn't announced.

Up front

Palushaj 60%

Engqvist 40%

Dumont 30%

Blunden 25%

Gallagher 15%

Trotter 15%

Willsie 15%

Palushaj has played well in back to back games and is making a push for one of those spots. One of Engqvist, Dumont, or Willsie is now almost guaranteed of making the team out of camp with the need for a centerman who can play the 4th line and/or the PK. Engqvist holds on to the lead in this race by virtue of the fact Jm seems to like him but Dumont is closing on him. Gallagher also becomes a factor now as a possible fill-in on the third line if Eller and/or DD isn't ready to go. And Blunden's stock goes up as the one vet who can play the role of the big winger in place of Moen and/or White. Trotter is to me, the big loser right now in that he has been outshone by Palushaj in the role of the offensive winger and by Gallagher as a scoring center/winger in addition to not being very good defensively, where other players like Engqvist, Dumont, or Blunden are more likely to get the call.

10 players just released.

With the addition of Campoli, the odds of either guy making it go way down. Interesting to note the Habs have kept St-Denis around too, although I think this is more for experience.

Palushaj 70%

Dumont 45%

Engqvist 45%

Gallagher 20%

Blunden 15%

Trotter is demoted and officially off the list. Willsie has slid way down with some very ordinary performances and Blunden is not far behind but is being saved by his size. He's basically Moen V.2 and he seems to be having trouble staying on his feet. Palushaj's odds go up with Trotter gone. Dumont has also impressed and his odds go up too. I think he's in a dead heat with Engqvist for the last center spot while Eller and White are out.

According to an NHL agent's account, Phil DeSimone has earned a contract with the Habs.

Alec Schall

Extremely happy that @DesyStorm earned a contract with the Montreal organization. A huge accomplishment.

Most fans have no idea how hard it is to go into camp with no deal and earn one. @MaxPacioretty67 @PrentissHockey know how hard he worked

If Massé and Lefebvre got contracts, it should come to know surprise that DeSimone got one too. Congratulations to him.

So we can cross Dumont and Willsie off the list officially. Palushaj was practicing on the third line today, so appears to have the edge on a spot. As for the 4 bubble guys left as a whole, I almost feel like they're going to be kept so long as the guy they're filling in for is out. To me, Engqvist is around so long as Eller is out and Blunden will only be here until Moen comes back. Palushaj and/or Gallagher may be the guy to replace White. And then either Palushaj or Engqvist is the guy who's kept in the long run as the 13th guy once everyone else is back. Would not be surprised to see Blunden get the axe next once Moen is back though and I still think the odds are against Gallagher after seeing the Habs award that third line spot to Palushaj over him today in practice.
