Who's been better? Trotter or Palushaj?

c) neither

They've both been pretty unimpressive thus far. Trotter has had the better moments but he's also made the bigger mistakes. Palushaj has been petty invisible most of the time. Engqvist has looked slow. And so overall, I'd say Dumont and Gallagher have outshone all of them.

I agree, Gallagher is making JM's job hard. He's really showing a lot our there, a lot of hustle and a lot of heart. Dumont as well, but this is the 1st night that I've really noticed him.

Gallagher has no chance to make the team...Dumont...IIRC from last season in Hamilton, he still needs some work, right?

Gallagher's been better than Dumont but he's also a junior-aged player whereas Dumont has some degree of AHL experience.

Ultimately I think the Habs want Engqvist to step up and be the guy to make the team, but it hasn't happened yet.

Im thinking Gallagher may be played at the start of the year, see how it goes, like Niederreiter last year

The issue with Gallagher is where you play him at the start of the year. Even if Eller's out, the top two lines are set and the third line will feature AK and DD in all likelihood. Do you stick a little guy like Gallagher with an equally small player like DD? Or do you stick him on the 4th line with Moen and White, where his offensive talents become virtually useless. The Habs have a bunch of guys that they're going to give PP time and top 6 minutes to and Gallagher's not going to displace them, nor is he a PK or face-off specialist. So while he may be a fill-in if a guy like Gio or Cammy gets hurt, I don't know where he fits in with the current roster without putting him in a role that will be hard for him to succeed in.
