I dont get why people hated this trade,

Like I said before...IMO,its not some much the trade....as many posts reflect, its the contract.....$$$$$ going forward.

Only the habs are willing to take on questionable contracts.

Markov...Gomez....etc.<_<

Not sure if you're joking or not, but to clarify... Subban was a right-handed player playing on the left side of the ice on this sequence. The passes were heading to Subban's left. If you expected Subban to step into those, he would have either had to take the pass on his back-hand or else be wheeling back as he tried to one-time the pass forward. The chemistry between Subban and Kaberle will come, but this is another reason why I'd like to see the two paired at even strength as well.

I was only joking. I was as surprised as anyone at the quality of those passes unless, in Kaberle's mind, he didn't want PK to shoot. Maybe Kaberle saw something else developing but he and PK weren't on the same page. Or, they were just brutal passes.

I'd say the right handed thing is a factor and they just have to get used to playing with each other. If those passes are to a left handed shooter they're a lot closer to an area where he wants to receive the puck.

I like this. Subban is usually great in his own zone; a place where Kaberle stuggles. Kaberle has great composure on the blueline and distributes the puck consistantly, which is somewhere PK has had issues with this year. It's definitely worth trying for a game or so.

Again, lets give him some time to settle in with his new team & understand the system before we write off his defensive abilities. He's only a year or 2 away from being called "Toronto's Andrei Markov" - the guy is no sheldon souray, he has great vision and can play sound positional, defensive hockey.

Good to see Thomas having success early on. I just can't seem to like him yet. How do you stop hating someone you have been practicing hating for years? He get's an assist and I'm at home saying, damn Kaberle....wait...no, good Kaberle.

This is going to take some time, and a larger sample size.

Good luck Thomas, I hope you shut up all the Toronto fans laughing at me. <_<

I never have problems shutting up a Leaf fan. They tossed that garbage about Kab's at me too. My reply,,, we got your Kaberle and you got our Komy (for more money). Amazing how they go silent after that. :P

I know it is only four games, but I really like this guy. He gets plenty of assists, doesn't try the impossible passes if it is too risky, and when we are not on the powerplay, I don't see him at all, which is a really good thing. I hope that he can continue like that for the rest of his contract :D

He's not a PP specialist. People keep saying he is and I don't think it's true. He's a legit top-four guy, you don't have to hide him at even strength. He's made some positional errors the past two games, but he is only two games into playing with his new team and is also coming off a grueling Cup-winning season that kept him playing into June.

sounds good.

Kaberle has filled a huge whole since his acquisition. When Markov returns it will be great to see both of them on their own PP unit.

It will be a deadly PP.I just hope its before its to late.

It would have helped a great deal to have Markov on this road trip.

3 ifs, but I dont think any are long shots:

1) if Markov returns to play as "markov" does.

2) if Kaberle continues to play here like he did in toronto

3) if PK can get the weight of the world off his back & start playing simple hockey again

this would be quite a formidable top 3.

Yup, with Kaberle here, it will eventually (if Markov makes it back) allow us to have a legitimate top 4. Markov/Kaberle/Subban is a top 3 potentially, like you described; Gorges can fill in as a #4, Emelin and Diaz as a #5-6. It would still be nice to have a top 4, right-handed shutdown guy, but I think Kaberle is a step up over what we had before. He at least has top 3 potential, whereas Spacek was a #5 guy on a good day.

Well and the thing is, with 3 strong top 3, your number 4 is really far less of a problem. Gorges is easily a top 4 if paired with any of those guys & getting second pairing minutes. The problem becomes when Markov is out & guys like Gorges and Diaz are being asked to move up the depth charts.
