arrowsno13
Don't really care what he actually said but to me if the linesman felt it warranted a report to the referees it must have been pretty bad. I ref hockey at a high level and often hear stuff said in the heat of the moment. I choose to ignore most of it unless I find the remarks to be derogative. For Barch to be thrown out of the game and to be given a suspension just leads me to believe it was a racial attack. My question then is why Colin Campbell only handed down a one game suspension. The linesman clearly heard it and Barch admits to saying it so why just the one game?

Because Campbell is incompetent, and PK didnt hear it, Erik cole who was closer said it might be TAKEN as a racial slur and even Barch said youd have to think real hard to make any racial connection to what he said. BigTed3
According to what's been going around twitter, the comment Barch made was somewhere along the lines of asking Subban "did you slip on a banana?" as Subban skated off the ice following the melee at the end of the period. It's impossible to know whether he was just making a joke about Subban being pushed down by Gudbranson or whether there was also a reference to Subban being black in there. Only Barch knows, but in theory, he should have known better than to make a comment that could be interpreted that way at all in the first place. Well Subban does tend to randomly fall to the ice when there's slight pressure on him.
