Flying_Lion
I got the heads up on my phone this afternoon. It put a dark tinge to the day and I had to be the one to spread the sadness amongst the fellow Habs Fans on staff. Jean Beliveau, the Lion Regal. Wishing the best for him and his family. kinot-1
From the Vancouver Sun,,,additional info. "Beliveau suffered a previous stroke in January 2010, which wasn't his first brush with serious health issues. He has dealt with cardiac problems for decades and had 35 chemotherapy treatments for a malignant throat tumour in 2000. His cancer has been in remission for years." kinot-1
Update: "MONTREAL — Jean Beliveau is in stable condition and resting comfortably after suffering a stroke Monday evening. Former player Dickie Moore said that Beliveau is still receiving treatment as of Wednesday, but that he is conscious and receiving visitors. "The news this morning is very positive that he can now view people and know who he is talking with and it's very nice," said Moore. "I told him yesterday this is going to turn around, you'll be back in the fort, and it's showing all the signs of a recovery."

kinot-1
Update. MONTREAL - Canadiens icon Jean Béliveau is making encouraging progress at Montreal General Hospital after a stroke he suffered at home Monday evening. Élise Béliveau, the wife of the 80-year-old Hall of Famer, said Thursday afternoon that her husband is speaking, laughing and regaining some strength while he undergoes tests, still under close observation by specialists. Shawn1990
I work in a restaurant and last Friday some guy who knows Beliveau personally was talking on the phone to someone and mentioned that a week prior he was in the hospital for about 5 days(not sure on the length) because he couldn't get his nose to stop bleeding after a hockey game. Hope he recovers fast.

Guest
Thank you so much HTL for posting this & letting us know....I just sent my "get well" message to him. Your welcome FH. I did beat you to it though. I've been waiting for an opportunity to send him a get well soon message, while respecting the family's wishes. Having just gone through this experience with my own father, it really hit home when this story first broke. Thanks to the Hab's for giving us this venue.
