Tank Watch

The Vancouver Canucks got back on the winning track their last time out, picking up a much-needed two points as they continue their quest for the Western Conference’s top seed.

While the Montreal Canadiens have little chance to climb into the East playoff picture, they’re coming off a rare impressive effort of their own.

Seeking a two-game sweep of Montreal, Vancouver tries for a ninth victory in 10 home meetings in this series Saturday night.

Montreal found itself on the verge of posting what would have been a second consecutive win over the Canucks on Dec. 8, but blew a three-goal lead and fell 4-3 in a shootout. Vancouver hasn’t defeated the Canadiens twice in a season since 2003-04.

Since allowing all of the goals in a 7-1 loss at Vancouver on Oct. 7, 2009, Price has gone 2-0-1 with a 1.62 GAA in the series.

Vancouver’s Roberto Luongo got the night off Thursday. He’s allowed at least three goals in five of his last six games, the exception being a 29-save shutout of the Blues on March 1.

Luongo had suffered three straight losses to the Canadiens before making 20 saves Dec. 8.

Expected Goaltenders

This made me smile. My only hope for this game is that it's as fun to watch as the last one. It makes up for the late start

Kudos to the guys and gals putting in the time to make these GDT's under current circumstances. I know it's difficult to put your heart into these awesome works of art (that we see every game) knowing our team is having a bad season,,,, but just the same,,,please know we appreciate it. Well done. ;)

Gonna be tough to stay up for this one -- I have the morning shift with my 9-month-old daughter, so I try to be in bed by midnight at the latest. :)

I have an early morning (but a short day) too, made worse by tonight's time change. Guess it's an afternoon nap for me tomorrow.

Andrei Markov was placed on the active roster list this morning. He will be available for tonight's game. !!

Will he actually dress??? I imagine he'll be eased in if that's the case. They better not throw 20+ minutes at him.

I dont know if he'll play or not, just looking good for my next game at the Bell is all ;)

Anyway, whether he plays or not, I expect him to be behind the play quite a bit , you know, taking his usual good decisions on the ice but sorta forgetting that the body may not exactly do what he wants it to do

If he's ready to go then this would be a good game to ease him into the lineup. Much better then having to face an Eastern team like the Bruins who might be trying to test that knee early and often. I imagine we'll dress the usual 7D if he's a go.

Up until this update,,,,i wasn't looking forward to staying up this late tonight. I'm getting pumped now.

Although the rest of the season looks dismal I have been waiting for Markov's return for months now and I can only imagine how much he is chomping at the bit to get back to the game. We can only imagine how he feels having 2 years of playing the game he loves stolen away from him by injury. For sure they won't overdue it with his ice time but he and the team need to see him back on the blue line. Good Luck

heck, just seeing the camera shot on him during the anthems would be a treat, nevermind actually seeing him skate during the game

I was going to let the wife claim the TV tonight. NOT :D
