Let's not forget the importance of seeing Nas go out in the 1st round to help us with the pick we got from them.

Hey....forgot about that one ;)

Chi 4-2 up on Nas. Let's not forget the importance of seeing Nas go out in the 1st round to help us with the pick we got from them.

Knocking the Preds down to 6th is bad, IMO. Than they will go against the Pacific winner, which is gonna be a weaker team than the 4th place team(Detroit).

Of course there was. Messier played a grinding physical game enabling Gretzky to get away from matchups. It was pick your poison. But in any case, that isn't the point, because again, the game was different then. Look around the league. Where are the pure goons who have that much impact for their team? Guys like Chris Neil are not pure goons. Neil has some ability. Hell, he's a former 20-goal scorer. You keep trying to conflate toughness with goonism and I am not sure why. They aren't the same thing.

You had this argument with Rick, I know the difference between toughness and goons. Not all tough guys are goons, but all goons are tough. Where ever you get your toughness it helps, whether it's from a goon, a gritty 4th liner or a very rare type like Iggy (who can score, play physical, be tough and even drop the gloves).

Guys like Lucic and iggy are the exception, not the rule. I'd love to get a guy like lucic, but it's a lot easier to procure a guy like staubitz. Even back in the 80's and 90's there were guys like Lucic... Probert is a perfect example (he could play despite having the enforcer tag). There still in high demand and hard to find. That's why teams are still drafting guys like staubitz, Boogaard, Shelley, Thorton, etc... Interesting that despite having such a tough team, the bruins still have a true blue enforcer in Thorton. The flyers are tough as nails, again, they have shelley as a true enforcer.

You know what? Forget it. You shifting the goalposts on this discussion so frequently that it's not worth it to continue. You like goons, I get it.

my mom (caps fan is losing it) xD

Could you ask her why the rafters in the Verizon Center are full of so much basketball stuff, but not that much hockey stuff? I mean, they've been around for so long... are the banners at the cleaners? B)
