What a day, ugh.

Recommended Posts

So I work in a fine dining restaurant and naturally we have a reservation book. There was a reservation in there for 11 people at 7:00 tonight. The woman who booked the reservation called us at 6:30 and told us, "I'm sorry, we'll be late. We should be there at 7:30. By the way, there are only 8 of us now." Okay, that's fine. She calls us back at 7:30 and says, "I'm sorry once again, but we won't be there until 8:30." Okay... so I tell my chef, "I bet you she calls back at 8:30 and tells us 'oh we're not going to come any more, actually.'"

I sure do hate being right all the time. What a boring night that was.

/end rant... :P

I hope for your sake she doesn't show up at 9 with 20 people.

The woman never even told us she wanted to reschedule her reservation. I think she was just trolling us. :(

That reminds me of a time two years ago though, when someone called for a table of 15. They called us at 8 pm (we normally close at 8:30~9:00) and said they would be here at 9:00. So we waited, and waited, and waited some more... until 10:15. Not a single person showed up and we wasted our time.

Btw, I'm not sure this topic deserves it's own thread. It is the lounge, maybe we can turn it into a place where all members can vent about their jobs.

I'm going to change the topic of this thread so other people can rant and vent about their jobs.

Thank you

Ok, so I went ahead and changed the title of the thread. Now collectively we can vent about our jobs, school or just a very bad day.

Hope this is cool with you Thrill?

Have a feeling this thread may be a popular one. :P

Well look I work at a farm just outside of where I live. On Saturday instead doing my usual labour I have to clear all the cobwebs in the barn and guess what face my fear of heights. I let my boss know that and he says do it anyway. I was disappointed and terrified. Now today I went to work my catie job at the golf course nearby in the pouring rain how about that. Pretty sucky days!!!!!!!

Ahhh, that's unlucky. I don't have a fear of heights, but I am afraid of climbing up ladders. The people at work think it's weird that a tall person like me is afraid to climb a ladder. :P

I love my job! :)

What do you do? I wish I loved my job. :(

You guys loving your jobs makes me jealous. :(

I look at it like this....if you don't or cannot enjoy your job/career ...getting up each day & dragging your butt to work.....your not gonna do your job to the fullest......and its a must to have fun at times.(guess it depends on the environment one is employed at.

I enjoy my job.....have fun at the same time, great friends.;)

I have a lot of time & effort invested in my yrs at my work....its been good to me.

  • 2 weeks later...

I never thought I would be posting here,,,,,,,,,,,, but  .

Usually my days are pretty mundane, bordering on comatose, but today just wasn't my day, or rather 3 1/2 hours.

I got up this morning with plans in place for some outside stuff, but with it being windy and cold,,,those ideas went out the window/patio door. OK, I'll go and wash/dry my comforter at the laundromat (washers here are too small). I grab about 8$ worth of loonies and out the door I go. I hate wasting 1 1/2 hours doing nothing there, so I figured I would stop at the buck store and buy a loaf of bread to feed the ducks at a nearby park while waiting for the laundry. After that, I then drove to the 'mat in the strip-mall, and went in with the comforter, put it in a machine, soap in, and proceed to find out it only took quarters, $5.50 worth  . I only have 2 quarters, so I'll just go and change the loonies into quarters at the change machine. The change machine does NOT like or take new loonies <_< , but it does take bills. Hmmmmm,,,,look in wallet,,,,all I have is a 20. Now, I am NOT going to feed this machine my $20 bill and get back 80 quarters. I'll just go to the store next door and buy a bottle of water, $1.29 + tax, (at the buck store they were 2 for $1 :( ), break the 20, get a fiver among the change, go back to the laundry, put the fiver in the changer, and voila, quarters. I got the washer going, and took my water out to the car to do some reading while I waited for the wash (20-30 min.). I then opened the water and took a slug,,,,,,,,eeeeccchhhh, WTH???? I look at the bottle label,,,and apparently it is called "Strawberry Splash" in small lettering,. If I had wanted a flavoured drink, I would have bought a pop,,not a CLEAR Strawberry Splash  . By this time I am getting fed up with the whole process (no feeding the ducks today), so I decide to take the comforter home to dry it. OK, take wet comforter out to the car, and proceed to "start" to back up. I am going s-l-o-w-l-y, apparently so slow that a woman driver didn't even try to honk,,,slow down, or take any evasive action. She came within 2 feet of me <_<, and carried on with her conversation with her passenger.

OK,,,,I get home, throw the comforter in the dryer, and come on here to tell you all about it. My 1 hour timer goes off, I go and get it,,,throw it on the bed annnnnnnd find out it is still wet around the edges. Back I go,,,,throw it in AGAIN, and here I am.

OH,,,,I didn't mention that a loaf of bread lasts me about 2 weeks (put it in the oven, but don't forget to take it out when using said oven). So, I have 1 1/2 loafs of bread (1/2 loaf that I had), that I won't eat.

Here's the tally,,,,,,bread (I'll feed to the squirrels)-about $1.50,,,,water Strawberry Splash (which went down the drain)- $1.45, washing-$5.50,,,,,drying-$4.....

total,,,,$12.45 to wash and dry my 1 comforter.

One more thing,,,,I left home about 11:30, and it is now, 3:00,,,so all of this took 3 1/2 hours of my life

So,,,how was your day? :)
