Forever_Habs10
As I did last yr....I posted a thread bragging up my hometown SAINT JOHN SEA DOGS....watching them win QMJHL Title....and went to the memorial cup and won it. Now,this season...The Saint John Sea Dogs are the President's Cup champions for the second straight year ....and on their way once again to the memorial cup Saint John will defend its Memorial Cup championship in Quebec Sea Dogs on verge of 2nd QMJHL title The Saint John Sea Dogs are the President's Cup champions for the second straight year. Stanislav Galiev scored a hat trick and added two assists as the Sea Dogs defeated the hometown Rimouski Oceanic 8-0 Thursday in Game 4 of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's championship series. Saint John won the best-of-seven series 4-0 and will defend its Memorial Cup championship in Shawinigan, Que. Tomas Jurco had two goals and three assists for Saint John, which led 5-0 after the first period and 6-0 through 40 minutes. Zack Phillips, Danick Gauthier and Jonathan Huberdeau added singles. "Our first few goals were all about shooting the puck from the slot," Sea Dogs head coach Gerard Gallant said. "Guys were going hard to the net. It's a simple game and we played it to perfection." Nathan Beaulieu and Ian Saab each had two assists for Saint John, while Mathieu Corbeil made 24 saves en route to the shutout. Sea Dogs forward Charlie Coyle, who picked up an assist for his 34th point of the post-season, won the Guy Lafleur Trophy as playoff MVP. Oceanic netminder Jacob Gervais-Chouinard stopped 21 of 26 shots and Carl Hozjan stopped six of nine. Jurco gave Saint John a 1-0 lead at 4:14 of the first period, burying a feed from Galiev. Phillips scored at 11:39 for a 2-0 lead, *finishing a rush by Beaulieu. Goals in bunches The Sea Dogs took a three-goal lead on Gauthier's goal 50 seconds later and Jurco's second made it 4-0 at 18:55. Galiev cashed in 19 seconds later and Saint John took its 5-0 lead into the first intermission. Galiev scored his second at 3:49 of the second period, going top shelf from the right side for a six-goal cushion. The Russian winger struck again at 4:44 of the third period to complete the hat trick. "My legs felt good and I wanted to be dangerous with the puck every time," Galiev said."I'm just having fun and this will be a great memory. I've had three great seasons here and we're looking forward to the Memorial Cup." Huberdeau made it 8-0 shortly before the eight-minute mark of the final frame to complete the scoring. The Sea Dogs posted a 16-1 record in the playoffs, the only setback being an overtime loss in Game 3 of the semifinal in Chicoutimi. Saint John defeated the Gatineau Olympiques in six games to win last year's President's Cup title. "It feels awesome," Sea Dogs defenceman Charles-Olivier Roussel said. "It's the best feeling in my career in five years. The Memorial Cup is our focus, but for now we're going to have fun and enjoy this." *Beaulieu, Nathan ...Chosen in the first round, 17th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft So,of course I'll be watching this tournament on sportsnet coverage.....and will keep it up to date here.....LETS GO SEA DOGS. Is he ready to make the jump this coming season?? Seems like an injury depleted year. But he still got 72 points in only 37 games. Is he healthy at the moment?
