Guest habs1952
IMO Burke's ego was the wrong choice for a team that was already going nowhere. He has only helped it sink further. Even though we don't like them it is a shame to see this franchise missing the playoffs year after year. I would very much like to see a Laff/Habs playoff series one day. 1993 was the closest they have come in my lifetime. No it's not and you know it!

As long as Canadian media treats them as the only team of importance I hope they miss the playoffs and draft 14th every year. HabsRuleForever
Don't get me wrong, I hate them as much as you guys & I am thrilled when they miss the playoffs. I still think it would be good for hockey & Canada.

Habitom
Why do I always feel the need to take a shower after I visit this thread? Stay away 1952 because of water rationing. About the badminton scandal an astute TO reader stated in G&M, "Losing games to secure a more favourable draw? It's nothing new. The Leafs do it every year." hatethosebruins
Still haven't found a tender, have they? BB doesn't want to overpay. Thats what I dont like about him, I like that he holds press conferences to discuss what hes doing (in a hotbed), I like that at the press conferecnes he says I wanted player X and so I went out and got him (sometimes he doesn't do that well) and how he'll say im here to talk about the trade, not one of the 90 controversies surrounding my team. But hes overly arrogant, because HE doesn't want to overpay for a goalie doesn't mean a team is going to feel bad and just give him one. Theres a few teams looking to solidify their net and their all waiting on Luongo, then bernier. Its going to be a bidding war, and he isn't the brightest IMO for waiting that out. He may as well just sign Huet.

Guest
So was this rivalry ever vicious? Anyone on here remember those days.....kinot? 1952? There was a deep hatred for the Leafs until they were put into a different division for all those years. All us old guys remember it well, but the younger members were never exposed to it. Playoff battles were pretty much mini wars. Believe me when i tell you it will only take one playoff round against them to rekindle that hatred. If anyone is familiar with the old Habs vs Nordiques playoff wars,,, then you would have an idea of what it was like.

kinot-1
*CLASSIC* Wars,,,being the key word,,,,,Habs/Nords games were more wars than games, we just hated each other. The Habs/Laffs games more more battles,,,,,but spanned the decades, every once in a while, flaring up,,,back to the old 6 teams. As far as I can remember, the last time we faced the Laffs in the POs, was in '79, and that was a hated rivalry.
