Guest habs1952
I should have started this thread sooner. Who do you think the Habs will draft with the 3rd overall pick?
grecohab
I think we have a 70% chance of drafting Galtsenuyk. The other 30% is on CBJ, if they draft Galtsenuyk with the 2nd overall pick, then we will eventually draft Forsberg. The funny thing is, that there are rumors that Timmins favourite pick might be Teravainen, but he won't get picked, unless we trade down, because the size factor is huge in Montreal. Habitom
Well it is final. Galchenyuk with 100% of votes.(4) Is this poll accurate with 3% on 19 of 20 polls?

jedimaas
i thought I saw that this poll was public and therefore our vote would known. Now i don't see it. Am I imagining that? Its public. Click the "view" next to the 100% beside each player's vote. Like most (everyone else so far) i am sure that if things go as expected (Yakupov and one defensman going in the top 2) then galchenyuk will most likely be not only "best player available" but also "best player for our needs" and should be a no-brainer. If, however something weird happens (ie both columbus and edmonton decide to draft defensmen), well then its tricky to say. I cant see it happening, but you never know. The interesting thing is that I hear a lot of people comparing Yakupov to Ovechkin - so would that mean his centre (Galchenyuk) would be the next Malkin? If so, yes please!! The more I have read in the last few weeks about Gally, the more I like him., and hope that TT does too. Re, the Oil's pick,,,my feeling is that they will draft Yakopov, but trade him soon for a bunch of young players including a stud D-man.

That has been my view for quite a while. Maybe even a prearranged deal with whoever takes the D-man they really want. that way they get the guy they need plus extra value. Its public. That would be interesting, long shot imo, but interesting nonetheless. They've played together in the OHL(Sarnia?), be interesting to see how they'd compete (as linemates) in the NHL. Guest
http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/342425.html RDS more or less confirming that MB will pick the best player available with ALL his picks, regardless of immediate needs. Not discounting the possibility of drafting a goaltender in the early rounds.

Guest habs1952
I still like Forsberg but I don't think the Habs will pass on Galchenyuk if he's still available. Heck, Yakupov could still be available at #3.
Larry-Launstein-Jr
I think Forsberg is their most realistic bet, unless the teams above them pass on the other top guys being discussed at length. Regardless, I don't see any player in this year's draft who could help us immediately.
hatethosebruins
At the beginning of the season I wanted mikhal for the number2 pick factor. Now Ill be excited with him but not as much so if we take Forsberg/Galchenyuk. However I feel Galchenyuk has the more higher upside, while Forsberg could be a better Pacman (I.E. maybe a 40 goal scorer).

I also wanna Galch but I am also very high on Murray. I think he will be a great two way defensemen with speed. Subban/Tinordi/Beaulieu/Ellis/Murray would be a great top 4 assuming one will end up busting.
Nine1One
I think Teuvo has a really good chance to be picked by us at number
jennifer_rocket
I think Teuvo has a really good chance to be picked by us at number 3 I haven't heard much about him until recently. Teuvo Teravainen. Kind of small at 5'11" and 165lb.

Kind of small at 5'11" and 165lb. he'll build some muscle, he's still physically immature. Give him a year or two to build some up and he could be a great player down the road. I actually want the Habs to make a trade so that they can get both Galchenyuk AND Teravainen, but I don't think it will happen without them giving up a part of the core, whether it be Subban, Patches, etc.

weepingminotaur
I voted for Galchenyuk, because I think he'll be the BPA left standing when we draft at 3.

Is Teravainen expected to go in the top 10? I wouldn't mind habs trading Gorges or Subban for another top pick for this years draft. The only problem is that our D is so thin as it is. Sacrificing Gorges or Subban would be more indicative of a full on rebuild rather than a retooling. I'm not sure I'd be willing trade Subban right now. Yes, most people have him in the 6-10 range I believe.
