roy_133
I thought Pierre Gauthier was no longer GM Not saying he's very good or anything but for 1 year, 1 million I fail to see any big deal in taking a chance on him as a bottom line player. Agreed. He addresses some needs and he is a relatively inexpensive "trial" player. I see no harm in this contract. I think it also proves that we are likely not going after any major players (which is fine, considering the state of uncertainty with injuries and youth we had last year) although I still really wish we would have addressed our need for a top for. Im still hoping for someone like Bryan Allan - not flashy, just a solid #4. We'll see. Anyway, best of luck to Armstrong. He's a pest and can be very effective when healthy. Id take a contract like this for him any day.

CATATAFISH
Remember when the Pens approached Montreal about trading for Halak? The pens were like, oh we would really like to have Halak and montreal was like, ya we would really like to have Armstrong. The Pens said, oh we don't like Halak THAT much. Hmmmmm. What did the Pens end up getting in return for Armstrong?
roy_133
Hmmmmm. What did the Pens end up getting in return for Armstrong? Pretty sure he was 1 of 4 parts going to Atlanta in the Marian Hossa trade.

31Careyprice
Pretty sure he was 1 of 4 parts going to Atlanta in the Marian Hossa trade. That's right, Colby makes the habs 3rd/4th liner tougher and more skilled. For the price, he is a good signing.

ColRouleBleu
I wonder why he's not showing up on the official site yet; Frankie B and Prust are there... He's still listed as a Leaf on nhl.com profiles, the other two were completely removed yesterday. Players keep the same ID numbers on the nhl network and cant be on more than one team site. That doesn't really answer the why though, must be something technical, maybe because of the buyout, or just a simple oversight by the League's web people.
