S-Bah
Now the Habs have a heavy named Brandon and a heavy from Brandon(Whitey)Man.The season is going to be interesting to say the least and much easier to watch when our team isn't pushed around without retaliation. WestCoastHabs
i wouldve liked either less money or length in the contract but if his production increases a bit its a great signing. if it stays the same its a decent, tough, addition. should make our team tougher to play for the next 4 seasons (barring a trade). WaitingForCup25
Sounds good. As a "Crosby" can make everybody better, the right "heavy' can make everybody bigger. They said that when Laraque came to town, but he simply wasn't "the right heavy." I like how you specified that. I don't know much about Prust, but if he brings some energy and puts in the work, I'll be happy.

I don't know much about Prust, but if he brings some energy and puts in the work, I'll be happy. There was a lot of confusion and politics surrounding BGL and his role on the team. He's got a big heart and takes on too many causes. One he took on, was trying to convince Bettman that there still was a place for enforcers in the new NHL. Because he was a poster boy for "modern day" enforcers and had to play by the rules to show bettman it was possible, there were things he couldn't get away with, that another enforcer could. Bettman wanted enforcers to invite other players to a fight, instead of the old school way where you just grabbed a guy and started pounding. It was a cause he never should've took on. It killed his career and it also hurt the habs. His hands were basically tied, all of his own doing, still they were tied. His role on the team was never confirmed either. No player can succeed when you have no idea what you're suppose to be doing. JM never believed in enforcers or tough guys, so being on a team where your coach doesn't believe you're needed, makes life very hard for a hockey player. MIASUN
Listen to the commentary during this fight and the event that led to this. A hockey clip couldn't be more awesome than this: http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/111335 Prust is going to help, it should help us wipe away our soft identity. jennifer_rocket
Excited to add Prust to the lineup. I was surprised by the contract, but he's the kind of guy who will work well in our bottom six for the four years he's here. Assuming he stays healthy. It appears as though the referees stopped that one prematurely. Lucic didn't appear tired or defeated at all. I'd give the edge to Prust, but that fight wasn't finished. jennifer_rocket
At least now Prust has a history with lucy, and isn't afraid to go with him. Certainly not a bad thing. However, I doubt Lucic is going to be too intimidated by Prust. However, Prust off and Lucic off is a good trade-off any day of the week.

Elkheart
I just rememberwhen Lucic owned Komisarek at centre ice in the garden , Komi was never the same player after that , soooo wanna see that happen to Lucic at centre ice in the Bell Centre , send a message , whole new place to play , we have been sorely physically dominated by the Bruins last few years since , looking forward to the tide turning

MIASUN
I'd like to see Marchand become the new center ice dot. He's probably better suited to fight Shawn Thornton than Lucic and Marchand would never fight an experienced pound for pound guy like Prust. I'm ok with him shutting Thornton down though, he's the real tough guy, the rest follow him. http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/110556
Noob616
Ugh. I find it hard to get excited about Prust's fighting prowess. I really don't like fighting in hockey, and I think it should be abolished, which makes me a little apprehensive to be excited about the prospect of him fighting. I'm more excited for 12-14 minutes of solid, hard hitting play, and helping out Pleky and Moen on the PK. To me, that's the real value in this signing, Prust is a very good 4th liner. Sometimes fighting is necessary since the league is still in the dark ages when it comes to penalties and suspensions. My biggest beef is when a player lays out an opponent with a good, clean hit and immediately has to watch his back for retaliation.

Hitting makes hockey exciting, not fighting. I think Prust brings much more than his fists, it's just a presence he has that makes opposing teams play different, and gets more out of the players on his own team. He played junior under Hunter on quite an amazing junior team (2005) and he knows how to win, taking the Mem cup from Sid the kid
