Guest habs1952
Would really like to see Eller at LW with Plekanec and Gionta. Since Bourque went down, we haven't had an effective replacement at that spot, and it's hurting Tomas's productivity. Personally, I don't want to see Eller on the wing, but I would like to see him with Patches and Gallagher.
roy_133
Great night but I'm still waiting for him to put together a sustained scoring streak. Yeah, he's had 5 multi-point games, 2 games with 1 point and 15 games with 0. I love Lars and his game and this season has been such a positive step now the next step to take is some offensive consistency. If he gets that, he's going to be a higher end scorer than I thought he would be and I'm excited about that possibility. Either way though, big step forward. Also worth noting his extremely low offensive zone starts (41.5%). Makes his offensive numbers more impressive and shows how much trust he's earning from coach. Low-percentage O-zone starts, and for many of the games, he's been getting 3rd-line wingers and less PP time than the other centers. He's also played a touch on the 4th line, and let's not forget he's been shifted back and forth from wing to center and from linemate to linemate, which can make it more difficult to find that consistency. All in all, I'm very pleased with the season he's put together thus far. He's made great strides in his puck distribution and in his defensive game, and I can finally start to see him as a legit 2nd line center (or at worst quality 3rd line center). Extrapolating his stats over 82 games, I believe he'd be somewhere close to 50 points, which is not too shabby for someone in the role he's been given. Manatee-X
And more than even the points, I love how often he looks to be 'in control' when he's playing. I can't really think of a better way to phrase that... basically I'm just never worried that he's going to do something dumb when he's on the ice. It's a nice turnaround. jedimaas
Love that he's using Plekanec as his role model. Yes. We have a nice mix of strong veterans and youth to look up to them. Eller has mentioned Plekanec, Gallagher has said he'd like to emulate Gionta, guys like Subban can look at players like markov (and even kaberle) in their prime... the future looks bright

jedimaas
Honestly, the only thing he's lacking right now is consistency. Absolutely dominant game - he's been good all year (aside from the first few nervous games after the benching) but he's been great for several games too. When we've got some healthy forwards Id love to see him and Chuckie along with another skilled winger. Its no slight on Dumont but there were a couple of plays there last night that would have been goals if Gio or Patches had been on that line. BeanCountingHab
I'd be curious to see what those two could do with Bourque on the right side. I think they could create absolute havoc out there.

Agreed. Anyone who goes to the net would probably do well with those 2 cycling the puck. As good as Eller was, the move right at the end of the game - stripping the puck & feeding Chuckie - was probably the highlight of the night for me. It was skilful, yes but it was just as much about pure determination and hard work.
weepingminotaur
Still think he's playing like a winger, not a center, in terms of his on-ice play and his ability to distribute.
jedimaas
Still think he's playing like a winger, not a center, in terms of his on-ice play and his ability to distribute. I mentioned in another thread - i dont think its a coincidence he's playing alongside Galchenyuk. They cycle together well and play all over the ice - after the faceoff (aside from defensive coverage) its often tough to tell who is the centre on that line. Over time, as Gally gets better on draws & the coach has more confidence in his defensive game, I think you will see the positions shift. Even though Lars may think he's better suited to centre, I think Eller at wing, next to Galchenyuk is a heck of a lot better us of his abilities than at 3rd line with Moen and Prust on his wings. dwdemonwolf
Absolute beast! His box play shift towards the end was insane. He went up and down the ice four times. He is so confident with the puck, and so strong on his skates. Joy to watch.

BeanCountingHab
He's showing a level of play lately that to be honest, I just didn't think he had. He's becoming one of my favourite guys to watch. That PK shift you guys are referencing was such a treat.
