Suggestions for Marc Bergevin

Recommended Posts

I had an idea that might be interesting to some. I think that using all of our ideas and opinions together and write a letter to Marc Bergevin. I would like to stay away from any crazy trade ideas or anything impractical. So post your ideas and help me write that email.

Interesting, but aren't you worried that maybe your mind might explode trying to compile this compilation or MB's from trying to follow it. Careful he doesn't try and trade you to TML forum.

I was thinking as group we'd roughly write it and then I would edit it while trying to keep it short.

The Canadiens website actually has a "Contact a Hab" section where you write your name, email and question and they forward it to the player in question. Here's the link: http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=67971 You can send your thoughts to the GM as well via that link.

My thought for Bergevin would be: Don't listen to the fans or the media.

I agree, as much as I know there's plenty of very knowledgeable people on this forum that could easily come up with a laundry list of suggestions, I would hope that he wouldn't base his decisions on fan input. Bergevin and management have probably gone through, discussed and know all the issues we know already, at least I would hope so.

He didn't make an block buster signings, I like that he locked Price up for 6 years at a fair salary. I like what he said concerning, character guys/role players.

I know 3rd and 4th liners don't excite the fans, but they're an important part to any team. Plus he signed one of the best all around 4th liners in his prime. Armstrong may be a bit of a gamble, but a one year contract for 1 mil will be a steal if he stays healthy.

The soupy signing is a lil surprising. I see it as MB preparing for injuries. Injuries will happen and we've been hit hard over the past few years. Blunden did well for us on the 4th line and if our 4th line is hit, we have a capable replacement in Blunden.

Smart moves imo, not breaking the bank. He realizes we're not honestly competing for the cup in the near future. So no need over-paying and getting into a bidding war over a player who we don't really need at this point. Not like we're making an honest push for the cup and missing that one final piece.

On any given night your 3rd and 4th liners can excite the fans just as much as your 1st and 2nd liners. Especially if you play with an anemic offense.
