More news - though these guys will probably end up in the ECHL - until the strike ends! ;)

Wondering what they will do with St Denis and Palushaj. I also hope Desjardins is able to join the Dogs.

Three more on the way......(From today's Montreal Gazette)

Random thoughts while waiting for the NHL and its players to resume talking: Bulldogs add trio: The Canadiens have figured out a way to keep goaltender Cédrick Desjardins, defenceman Frédéric St-Denis and forward Aaron Palushaj employed during the lockout.

The three weren't among the 21 players assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs, but they will be with the American Hockey League club when it opens its training camp next week.

All three have two-way contracts and would normally have to clear NHL waivers before being assigned to Hamilton. The Canadiens delayed placing them on waivers because they feared another team would put in a claim.

But an informal agreement between the AHL, the NHL and the players' association will allow the players to join the Bulldogs after signing AHL contracts. The option is available to players who were on AHL clear-day lists that would have allowed them to play in last season's AHL playoffs.

Palushaj played 38 games for the Canadiens last season, while St-Denis played 17.

Desjardins, who signed his first contract with Hamilton in 2006, was in the Colorado organization last season and returned to the Canadiens as a free agent July 1. He posted a 2-0-0 record in his only NHL action with Tampa Bay in the 2010-11 season. He beat the Canadiens 4-1 in his NHL debut.

So how are the lines lookin? Im guessing

Geoffrion-Leblanc-Palushaj

Gallagher-Nattinen-Holland

Dumont-Bournival-Avtsin

Stortini ??? ???

St Denis-Nash

Tinordi-Ellis

Beaulieau-Qaulier

Desjardins

Delmas/Mayer

My guess is the fourth line centre spot goes to Dumont with Blunden going in his spot and probably Schultz on the right wing. Quailer may have to fit in here somewhere too.

The 4th line will probably be Holland centering Stortini at RW and Kyle Hagel at LW.Quailer can play all three forward positions, other defencemen are Pateryn and Stejskal both RDmen.I hope that helps Schultz is a RW that is learning to play at the front of the net and deflects pucks past the goalie his specialty(besides fighting).

Didn't I tell you a while ago that Quailer is a forward? :P

With all the invitees you have to assume at least one makes the habs, my guess is Michel Ouellet.

Palushaj-Leblanc-Gallagher

Geoffrion-Nattinen-Holland

Ouellet-Bournival-Avstin

Blunden-Dumont-Schultz

Shortini/Quailer/Fortier to battle for spots otherwise ECHL while Leville, and Chaput in ECHL

St.Denis-Nash

Tinordi-Ellis

Beaulieu-Pateyrn

Stejskal/Hagel

Desjardins

Mayer/Delmas

As per the Habs website:

"The Bulldogs released a group of four players from training camp Wednesday morning that includes defensemen Étienne Boutet, Antoine Corbin and Kevin Gagné, as well as forward Setphen MacAulay. All four players will return to play for their respective CHL teams."

They're now carrying 6 D, 15 forwards and 3 goalies and that must mean Ellis is now healthy. Would have thought they'd keep at least 7 D but the 4 sent down are still junior eligible so might as well let them play back with their clubs

I had high hopes for Etienne Boutet, he was my favorite among the invitees.

Hope you have better luck somewhere else, Boutet.

Hagel is listed as a defenceman/left winger,I don't know if you included him in your count, but during the pre-season games, the bulldogs had him playing D.

Just a little note.:P

The habs website says we released all four, but according to hamiltonbulldogs.com we released Boutet, MacAuley, and Gagne, but signed Antoine Corbin to a 1 year AHL contract. I think canadiens.com is missing something here.

Im really curious about Steve Quailer... He has yet to be sent down to Cincinatti.

He must be having a pretty good camp.

When a player plays college hockey, you don't really know much about him.

He's better than I thought as well, apparently he had nice stats in university(college?) as well.

They have 7 if the Corbin news is right. They might still make 1 or 2 more cuts to their forwards though. They likely have 3 goalies since apparently the Pens sent a goalie who is better than either Mayer or Delmas to Wheeling, so instead of sending either Mayer or Delmas to backup duties in the ECHL, the Dogs should just keep both as backups, unless we can send one of them to another ECHL team.
