Guest
Today's trade rumours.... Habs Seeking Size TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN believes that the Montreal Canadiens are looking for a top six power forward and are looking at a Ryane Clowe-type player. The Habs have three second-round picks in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft plus two third-rounders that could be used as bait. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=417574

Guest
Today's trade rumours... http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=417645 Ian White possibly on the market. Not the biggest guy at 5' 10" but he is a righty. Scratched his last 5 games so i'm guessing he'll come cheap. Insurance maybe???

powerplay2009
Any thoughts on Kovalev? He was pretty vocal about returning to Montreal after he signed with Montreal IIRC. Would Bergevin bring back another former Hab?

kinot-1
If MB is going to go for the Holy Grail, then he had better be "all in". I think that MB has to assess the teams needs (as in,,,do we go for it this year?) and after that,,,,find out who is available,,,,and then what does the potential trading partner want. I honestly think we'll be pretty quiet. Maybe we'll go for a small piece with one of our seconds, but I'm not sure about that either. We might get rid of somebody, but why? We have good depth and reserves for injury. We are finally in a position where the future is very bright, and we have almost all he pieces we need to be a contender for a long time IMO. I think MB will see that and be patient. Not unless we lose a top 6 winger for the rest of the season. Not sure we would bring him over then. I would rather see someone like Galch get a shot in the top 6 at this point. My thought would be to possibly beef up the 3rd line with another good scorer, leaving Prust to do his stuff on the fourth line with Moen and Armstrong. That would be for nothing more than a low pick though.
jennifer_rocket
I'm thinking Bergevin will be fairly quiet too. He made his move. Proactively going after Ryder when least expected. I'd hate to see him give up futures in the upcoming draft (especially considering how much Hamilton reeks this year) when the draft is supposed to be a good one. I also don't see how we can improve the team a whole lot. I mean, who are we going after here? A defender? A top six forward?

FirstStar
vanek could be interesting, but I'd assume the sabres wouldn't want to trade to divisional rivals. If we weren't in rebuild mode and had a team that had been playing solid hockey for a few years, I'd take my chance on Iggy. With Cole gone and Rb on the IR, we're missing a big body up front. Iggy isn't afraid of the physical game, strong skater, can shoot, pass and even drop the gloves if needed. Ryder gives us a pure sniper, but his foot speed is becoming evident. He seems to be having troubles keeping up with Pleks and Gio. Like i said, if we were a well established team, Iggy may be a good fit for a post season run. Right now, the flames would be asking too much and as well as the habs have been this season, I honestly don't see them going far in the post season. So unless a team is willing to give their players away for nothing (we have a lot of picks), i wouldn't mind giving up a 3rd rounder for a guy like Iggy, but i doubt the flames would go for that. FirstStar
Another interesting player, but he'd have to wave his NTC, would be the Flyers Briere. He's had amazing post season numbers, but he doesn't want to leave Philly and we'd be stuck with him for another year. As a playoff performer, briere is a good choice.
