I like Pittsburgh, but with their goaltending you never know

I obviously think we will win our series

I like the Rangers to "upset" Washington mostly because I think they found their game, and Washington just give me a feeling that they can contend

I think Boston will win, mostly because Toronto lacks the maturity to go through the playoffs. It showed with how undisciplined they were last night in the last two periods.

I think Chicago wins.

I feel like the most likely upset is the Ducks. Brodreau hasn't proven himself in the playoffs, and the wings have so much more experience. Good draw for the Wings, I think it comes down to Howard.

I think San Jose will beat Vancouver. No particular reason, just a gut feeling

I think the Kings beat the Blues because Elliot is Elliot and nothing can change that. If Halak was healthy, it would be a different story. Blues D corps could bail Elliot out enough to make it a series, but I still think the Kings win.

So my 2nd round matchups would be:

MTL vs BOS

CHI vs DET

We don't start until Thursday???? Bummer.

The League promised that with a game Sunday they wouldn't play tuesday and Wednesday there is Rihanna at Bell Center. I know that nobody cares about her but Habs had no choice....

Grabner becomes this generation's Volek. The media holds a moment of silence the next day. The NHL gives Matt Cooke the Masterton Trophy. Jay Feaster doesn't resign Iginla in the offseason because he "doesn't like guys who can't get it done in the playoffs".

Canadiens Vs. Senators: MTL in 6. Ottawa wins a few games in ridiculously lucky fashion, but can't hang on to bring it to seven. The K, A, R, L, S, O, and N keys wear out on every keyboard in the offices of CBC. Eugene Melnyk holds a press conference to announce his discovery that Bigfoot fixed the series against Ottawa. Subban wins a game in overtime and Bob Cole calls him Desjardins for thirty seconds before someone corrects him.

Capitals Vs. Rangers: NYR in 6. The Rangers finally exorcise their Capitals demons. Ovechkin puts on a show but Holtby has an off series. Lundqvist gets chased at least once and someone gets suspended for a few games. John Tortorella decides to be pleasant in media interviews.

Bruins Vs. Maple Leafs: TOR in 6. Boston's struggles in April turn out to be systemic. Nobody for Boston scores very much. The world's supply of carbon fibre becomes critically stressed as Rask spends half his cap hit on replacement sticks. The eastern Canadian telephone exchanges crash. The Blue Jays win every single remaining regular season game and the World Series, but nobody notices.

Blackhawks Vs. Wild: CHI in 4. They'd win in 3 if it was possible. Millions of Americans see the name "Clutterbuck" for the first time.

Ducks Vs. Red Wings: DET in 5. A Bruce Boudreau-coached division winning offensive juggernaut fails to reach the second round again, and people are still surprised. Getzlaf is invisible. Pierre McGuire accidentally stands too close to the Anaheim bench and costs NBC three million dollars in FCC fines.
Canucks Vs. Sharks: SJS in 6. The choker derby! The Sharks finally play like they're supposed to. Thornton scores the series-winning goal in the most clutch fashion possible. Vancouver re-hires Brian Burke who trades both Luongo and Schneider and tries to convince the NHL Board of Governors to make goaltending a penalty like in basketball.
Blues Vs. Kings: LAK in 4. The hockey gods continue to be offended by St. Louis' boringness. People in Philadelphia cry for weeks. The St. Louis Media and fans incessantly rant for the next decade about how they should've kept Eller.

I developed a massive soft spot for Chicago from the season that they won so I'm looking forward to them doing well. I don't really find myself interested in any particular match up in the west. Unlike before where I found myself oddly interested in at least one head-to-head like the Detroit / Phoenix match up 2 years ago Nashville / Chicago 3 years ago, and Vancouver and LA last year, unless, some stories or special events develop from those match ups, I'm pretty much just "meh".

When I see Pittsburgh and the Islanders together it reminds me of that game they had a while back that was absolutely crazy with fighting. It won't get like that, I don't think but you never know. I don't like New York but I'd like to see them over Washington just cause. My dad and I were talking about the Toronto/Boston match up. We both think it's going to be pretty "rough". I told him I hope they kill each other and that's the end of it. In reality, as much as I don't want to Leafs to go to the second round, I think they are more of a beatable team than Boston (if that makes any sense). And I hate to think that much of Boston anyway.

Their AHL team is playing in Grand Rapids, Michigan tonight. I imagine he'll be up for game 2. Maybe dress the goalie coach for period 2?
