ColRouleBleu
Senators @ Canadiens Thursday, May 9, 2013. 7 pm Unless you’re the type of person to randomly click on links on the internet, you’re here because want to watch the game and share with fellow Habs fans, and you know what’s at stake so no need for me to type a novel about it. But just in case you are that person who randomly clicks on links on the internet here’s a summary: Two groups of men on skates are at war, battling for possession of a disk of galvanized rubber armed with carbon fiber sticks. Along their journey, they will encounter striped pirates. The pirates are armed with whistles so they’re not overly dangerous, really they’re just innocent imbeciles, but they can inflict serious damage when they decide to wear two eye patches, to the point that the battlefield changes totally and we end up seeing horrors like this: At the end of the battle, one group will ... Oh enough already... I am NOT typing a novel. Let’s just watch the game and cheer for the group who wears red white and blue uniforms, no matter what their individual names are (in part because I have no idea what the line-up will look like at this point). It aint over until ... what’s that cliché again? something to do with fat and music ... umm ... It aint over until the fat walrus dances? no, I don’t think that’s it ... Nevermind, there are plenty of other clichés that fit, take your pick: have to show character, have to give 110%, need to play hard for 60 minutes, do or die, now or never, there’s no tomorrow, etc etc etc Bottom line, I was not quite ready to make a GDT so I want a chance to make another this season

HabsRuleForever
I believe in Budaj! Robert Mayer as backup? I found this to be amusing Dave_Stubbs (Dave Stubbs): Helpful note to #Sens coach Paul MacLean: #Habs backup goalie Robert Mayer wears No.
jedimaas
Queue the comeback.Tonight I believe we will play a strong game. A team game. Nothing flashy, no end to end rushes but a simple game with hustle. Losing skill out of our lineup hurts but we will have the advantage of guys who are rested, hungry and ready to follow the system. We need the veterans and the leaders to step up and remind this team we've not only been the better team in 3 of the 4 games, you could argue we've been the better team in 9 of the 12 periods we've played so far. Luck cannot remain bad forever & hopefully ours turns starting tonight. Budaj is the biggest question mark. If he can play remotely like he did in the regular season, we will have a chance. If the team plays like a unit, we will not need him to be spectacular, just "solid." We dont need him to channel his countryman Halak & stand on his head, but with timely saves and a good team game, this contest is ours for the taking. One game at a time, although I fully expect us to win tonight.
Guest
We've played 3 strong games. Unfortunately we're now in a position that all the bounces need to go our way the rest of the series in order to advance. Another bout of refereeitis and it's all over. Do we have enough healthy bodies to come back??

habs_93
Fine work, CRB. Hopefully the gist of Therrien's message to the boys is play hard and hold your head high. If there was ever a time for a real tough, earned character win, this is it.
Swisshockey
Great GDT I love that gif-animation. In fact, in the NHL are some really horrible refs. I have seen a lot of NHL-games and I used to play hockey myself, you might dont believe it, but in the swiss hockey league, we have better refs, and they are all amateurs! No consistency at all in their decisions. Budaj - may the force be with you!! (but dont close your eyes!)
FirstStar
Great GDT, love it all! Well, tonight it's all about heart. If they lose and put forth a solid effort, then I'll be happy. If they roll over and let the sens blow us out, won't be too happy. Hard to come back when down 3 games to 1, especially with so many key players out of the line up, but let's at least make a series out of it. Make the sens work to get to the next round. HabsAlways
While a long shot, this series is still winnable IF ... 1) The Habs can play the same way they did in Games 1, 2 and 4 ... all 60 mins, no sitting back protecting a lead. If they're up by 1, they should be pressing to go up by 2 .. if they're up by 2, pressing to go up by 3 2) Officiating ... this is the big if, it still annoys me that the Habs were 1st for PP oppurtunities @ 4.22/game to Ottawa's 3.27/game. In the playoffs however ... 3.5/game for MTL and 5.0 for OTT. I just don't accept that Montreal has changed it's game so much that they're drawing almost a PP/game less and that Ottawa is now drawing almost 2 oppurtunities per game. Smacks of biased officiating, and Game 4 was a good example ... 3 PP's for Ottawa, 1 for MTL ... if they had called more infractions, things that WOULD have been called in the regular season, MTL would have had 2-3 more in that game and possibly another goal to show for it. 3) Budaj ... here's hoping the spirit of Jacques Plante and Vezina decide to possess him ... 4) Speed ... Speed and more Speed ... MTL has to simply outskate Ottawa and keep the play in the offensive zone as much as possible. The best defence around is simply posessing the puck far more often than your opponent.
montreal961
I wont even be upset if we lose tonight. I was so angry last game that I completely gave up on this year and have shifted my focus to the summer time. There is no possible way that I could get any more angry at tonight's game. Which makes me feel not even excited about tonights game to the point where im not sure I even want to watch. I know that makes me sound like awfully bad fan, but Tuesday nights game just took all of the wind out of my sails. It felt like the end of the season, for me at least. With that said, I do want us to win tonight. But since the realist in me has already accepted that we are going to be eliminated, I just can't get excited for this one. Don't mean to bring the party down though. Of course I still want them to win, like always.
Guest habs1952
So, with Tuesday nights farce still fresh in our memories, how many borderline(cheap) calls go against the Senators tonight allowing the Habs enough power plays to win the game? How long after the game is over will the ridicule begin accusing the Habs of not being able to win without the ref's help?

Actually, Id prefer they let us win on our own accord tonight and then tilt the ice in our favour for game 6 - thats the game that worries me the most. Obviously we'd need to win this game first but i think if we somehow manage to cap a comeback and win this series, it will be game 6 that we look back upon as the toughed win.
