He's a UFA but yeah, he'll sign in Ottawa for another year.

Seems not! Dreger has him going to Detroit, which is absolutely something I did not expect. I wonder why he left Ottawa? It seems odd to just pack up and leave at his age when he's been there so long.

Sportsnet just reported it as a done deal,,,,just needs his sig.

As per @DarrenDreger, Wings deal has been agreed upon with Alfredsson, one year, $5.5 M (including $2 M in bonuses)

I have to say I'm a little surprised by the Alfie signing. He's become the poster boy for the sens, I thought he would retire a sen. Not surprised by his choice to join the wings with their swedish connections, just surprised that he left Ottawa. Does this mean Karlsson will be looking for a new place to live?

Right now he's living in Alfie's basement, babysitting his kids.

There's on habs killer we won't have to face 8 times a season.

OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Senators have agreed to terms with defenceman Jared Cowen on a four-year contract.

Cowen began the 2012-13 season with the Binghamton Senators, recording three assists in three games. He underwent surgery in November to repair a torn labrum in his left hip, sidelining him until April when he made his NHL season debut against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The 22-year-old Cowen played seven regular-season NHL games last season, scoring one goal. He also played in each of Ottawa's 10 playoff games against the Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins, recording three assists and 21 penalty minutes.

Cowen was the Senators' first-round pick (ninth overall) in the 2009 NHL draft.

He played in all 82 games of his rookie season with the Senators in 2011-12, scoring five goals and adding 12 assists.

Hammond recalled from Binghamton to backup Lehner for Thursday's game against the Wings. Anderson has travelled back home to Florida for the arrival of his second child.
