Financial terms were not released and Timonen would have been an UFA.

Timonen is being paid 2 million with a bonus which could add up to 4 million. Congrats Timmy, so happy for you bud!

I love Kimmo for saying this. This is exactly how I feel. I hate when a player retires before his time. I get that many do it so they can spend more time with their families, but they'll regret it in the long run. It was rough seeing Smyth go this season. Ryan's tears made me cry like a baby because I could see it in his eyes how much he loves the game and truly didn't want to go. Yet again another player that gives up what they have to watch their kids grow up. It's a shame.

"I talked to a lot of people around my age who retired and who kind of hung up their skates before they should have," Timonen said Friday. "I would say if I talked to 15 people, 13 of those people said don’t quit if you’re not hurt or something doesn’t force you to do it. Because you’re going to regret that forever. So that was kind of cool to talk to so many people that were saying the same thing: If there’s a team that wants you back and you can play, don’t retire."

"I still haven’t won the Stanley Cup, so that was obviously a huge thing," Timonen said. "I like the team. I like our chances and I like the way the team is going. I really think we have a good chance to achieve that, that I’m looking forward to."

"When the season ended I wanted to see how I felt and I went away and really took time to think about, can I still do it, do I have enough in the tank to make sure I can still play at a high level?" Timonen said. "When I realized it after a few weeks of working hard, I realized I could still do it ..."

Umberger is the newest Flyer :(. Wish he was still a Jacket.....

Anyways he was traded to the Flyers in addition with a 4th round pick in the 2015 draft for Hartnell. Am I the only person who thought they would never trade Hartnell? He's going to look weird in a Jackets jersey.

Brayden Schenn signed a 2 year extension worth 2.5 million a season. Overall he's played mediocre, but if he plays the same this upcoming season as he did last season then this signing will be a steal for the Flyers.

It's been reported that Vinny isn't happy as a Flyer and will sign a contract with some other team this weekend. Apparently it's not going to be Ottawa.
