I don't know that much about Big George (hmm, another Big George.......) as I don't get to see much hockey not involving the Habs or division rivals. Still, what really makes this a stellar move is........his caption picture on the official website newsfeed just needs a speech bubble saying "I will destroy you the second the puck drops."

As we'd say back in South London (and please read it with the right accent as I don't mean the one in Ontario) he looks "Proper Nawty".

Welcome aboard George, or is that BGP?

Okay, so the crucial question for this season, THE game-changing element that will shape our fortunes going forward:

Can George impart his mustache wisdom to the rest of the team????

Imagine P.K. Subban with that mustache. Imagine Tomas Plekanec lining up to take a face-off with that magnificent piece of face fuzz scaring the living daylights out of his opposite number. We would be an unstoppable juggernaut. Sadly, other teams have tried and failed to harness the power of George's 'stache. Will we be the ones to catch hairy lightning in a bottle? Only time will tell...

we've had pretty good luck when it comes to harnessing the power of facial hair. Radek Bonks beard, Paul Mara's mountain man beard. A mustache shouldnt be too far of a stretch :)

also cna anyone translate this?

You're right, but something always held us back. Bonk's beard demanded too many human sacrifices. Mara's beard was a distant, uncaring Beard God. We need a 'stache that units us all in shared strength. George could be the key, I tells ya.

I can roughly translate it, but I can't guarantee that it's worth reading! :P

Essentially the first section is Laraque saying that Parros is not actually much of a fighter:

I know Parros, he's a good guy. He'll come in and defend his teammates. But teams like Boston, Toronto and Ottawa won't be scared of him. I'm convinced that when the Habs signed Parros that the Bruins weren't worried. Shawn Thorton wasn't worried.

He's not a guy who hurts people...yes he's tough, but he's more of a wrestler, he's going to try and pull guys to the ground. He's not a finisher.

The number of fights isn't important, as people will realize soon enough. [Parros] is a good guy, he'll go to war. But in the NHL it's not good enough to just go to war; you need to win, you need to intimidate. You need to scare the other teams.

The rest isn't much different. He says that Prust impressed him last year, that Therrien respects the role of the tough guy and that the Canadiens had to go find an enforcer because our division is so rough. But he also says that if Parros was good at his job then Florida wouldn't have let him go, as they're in the same division as the Habs. He says that Parros will improve the Habs, but that after watching him throw a few punches we'll wonder why we went out and got him.

Finally: I know that some people will read this and say that I'm jealous or frustrated. I'm not jealous, I know this guy, I know all the guys in the league. People that don't believe me are going to see for themselves this year.

Laraque more or less saying that Parros doesn't scare anybody in the League. He's more of a wrestler then a boxer. He's a great guy and will defend teammates, but he's not a guy who instills a fear from his opponent of getting their noses or faces broken. He'll wrestle you to the ice but doesn't punch hard enough to make you fear him.

It would have been nice if Laraque had done of these things he claims you 'need to do'. Unless 'going to war and intimidating' involves following someone around the ice, politely asking them to fight, then re-injuring your back before doing anything useful.

Exactly, thank you.

I could care less about what Laraque has to say about Parros.

No matter what Laraque did or didn't do in the past, he's right about Parros.

So true. I mean he hits as hard as Grabovski bites! Be sure to check that "soft" punch at 0:56 that knocks out Cote.

Or this one where he TKO's Hordichuk before the linesman even get there: (defending a teammate after a hit, no less) :)

I'm getting so sick of x-players/coaches who couldn't cut in Montreal commenting on our players and criticizing the team.

BGL said Parros will not make an impact or intimidate teams in our division. Well he's one to talk, he was too busy taking on every cause to do his job when he was here. I don't think anyone intimidates Chara, but Parros has done well against Lucic, Orr, Scott and other tough guys in our division.

At least he'll throw down the gloves, not like BGL.

You certainly need to consider the source before taking any comment seriously. Respect is earned and Laraque lost quite a bit of his from the fans during his stint with the Habs.

100% agreed, I'm not taking his comments as gospel. Every time we land a player or coach, some x-hab (player/coach/both) have to give their 2 cents. I find it very hypocritical that he's questioning Parros' role with us, when BGL after signing a pretty healthy contract, didn't live up to his. If it was a player who did well here, it wouldn't bother me so much, it's the hypocracy that bothers me. Like an x-hab coach commenting on the present coach after he was fired. These are the last people imo that should be expressing themselves.

I use to listen to l'antichambres, but had to turn it off once Tremblay joined. How in hell can he criticize the habs when he is partly responsible for the situation of the team over the last 20 years?

It wasn't him directly who sent Roy packing, although he definitely had a hand in it. He came in and made Roy's life miserable, I don't usually like favoritism, but in certain cases it's justified. Tenders are known to be a little odd, which means on many teams, tenders often have liberties that the other players don't have. tenders often live by a different set of rules, Tremblay would have no part of it, in fact he went out of his way to make things tough on Patrick.

Bowman completely humiliated Tremblay that fateful night. After a war of words in the media between bowman and Tremblay, bowman wanted to teach tremblay a lesson and decided to role his top 2 lines through the 1st half of the game, lighting up Patrick 6 times. Tremblay feeling humiliated didn;t swallow his pride, he turned around and took it out on Roy, leaving him between the pipes to share the humiliation.

And now he's considered a critic for the habs?

Parros isn't a spring chicken anymore, granted, but let the guy play a game before criticizing it.

BGL is a politician now, he should refrain from commenting on hockey and concentrate on his political career.

One thing i just recently realized, Parros was part of the Duck team that won the cup. He and Moen were fighting for ice time.

Interesting twist there.
